When a warning light is illuminated, this means the on-board computer system in your vehicle has detected a problem or service need with one or more of the many different systems it monitors and controls, such as your engine or transmission. Therefore, we recommend our Computer Diagnostics service to provide you with an accurate assessment of your vehicle’s condition. Mr. Transmission Computer Diagnostics services utilize state-of-the-art equipment, which is connected to your vehicle to view any computer trouble codes. Today’s vehicles are primarily computer-controlled and utilize sophisticated technology to operate properly. The use of this technology plays a significant part in the diagnosis of your vehicle’s performance. When your vehicle is illuminating the dreaded “Check Engine” light or not running properly, Computer Diagnostics are often needed to determine what part is malfunctioning. In the event that you run into car trouble, Mr. Transmission can help. Something as simple as our Computer Diagnostics testing can usually indicate any internal issues. Once the data is retrieved from the trouble code, our technicians can provide a service or repair recommendation to return your vehicle to its road-ready condition.

Your check engine light comes on 💡
This can suggest a loose gas cap or maybe spark plugs needing to be replaced. That’s a fairly inexpensive fix. But if you ignore the light, and leave those faulty spark plugs in the engine? Eventually, you could damage the catalytic converter of the car, and that can lead to the destruction of your engine.

There’s a leak 💧
We can’t know if something is major or minor until we take a look under the hood. If you see water dripping from your engine, especially during the warmer months, it’s probably condensation from the air-conditioning and nothing to be concerned about. On the other hand, if you see darker drips on the driveway or parking lot, it could be oil dripping, and you should get it checked out. Fortunately, that too, maybe be nothing serious – perhaps your oil pan gasket needs to be replaced. That generally isn’t too costly. The problem could also be a seal that needs to be replaced. Don’t be mislead by an issue which may be an inexpensive fix. If the oil continues leaking, and you do nothing about it, the engine could possibly catch on fire.

You hear a weird sound 🔊
If your car has a chirping or squealing noise, that may just be a problem with your serpentine belt. That’s an easy, inexpensive fix. The longer you wait to fix a problem with the serpentine belt, the greater chance it can eventually break. That leads to your car losing its power steering. The engine cooling system can also be affected. A whole host of problems can come from not doing anything about a fraying or broken serpentine belt.

But if you take your car in to be checked out when something seems wrong, more often than not, you’ll be glad you did, because you’ll save yourself money and grief. In other words, pay attention to your car, and chances are, you won’t pay for it later. ⚠️🔎

We understand that a lot of car owners do not get the best rep for being Earth Conscientious. in honor of Earth Day we want to remind you of all the ways that car owners can be more responsible and do their part to contribute to the well-being of our Earth! 🌎🍃

1. Regular Tune-Ups: Getting regular tune-ups and maintenance will ultimately produce fewer emissions which can result in a 4% boost in gas mileage.

2. Invest in Eco-Friendly Tires: Eco-friendly tires are made from more environmentally safe materials. They improve rolling resistance which boosts gas mileage and reduces emission exhaust.

3. Use the Car Wash: It may be hard to believe at first, but washing your own car in your driveway causes the water running off of your car, containing gasoline, oil and exhaust residue may ultimately end in the storm drains. These storm drains could lead to rivers, streams and wetlands which can lead to damage in the ecosystem.

4. Carpool: Ride-sharing with friends or coworkers ultimately cuts back on overall usage of your car and reduces wear and tear.

5. Don't Top Off at the Gas Pump: When the automatic nozzle shuts off at the pump, avoid topping off and filling up your tank to the top. This can often cause overflow which pollutes the ground around your car. Topping off could also lead to damage on your car's v***r collection system, forcing liquid into the carbon filter.

6. Combine Your Trips: When you think about running out to grab groceries, sit and make your entire to-do list for the week and do them all at once. This can cut back on the amount of times you start your car, drive fewer miles, as well as cut back on general wear and tear.

7. Lighten the Load: Clean out the interior of your vehicle and clear out general waste inside your car you don't need on a daily basis. Reducing the weight of your car by as little as 10% can improve fuel economy by up 6% or more.

HOW TO HELP YOUR CAR GET TO 200,000 MILES🚗:

🔧Make sure your car gets regular maintenance.🧰️
Oil and filter change, a new battery, replacing a timing belt or spark plug – it’s all a heck of a lot less expensive than securing a loan and payments that stretch out until the end of time. And the fact of the matter is – a car won’t last indefinitely if you don’t take care of it. Taking care of a car is a lot like taking care of yourself. If we don’t pay attention, we get run down and our parts wear out.

🚘Make sure your car gets regular antifreeze changes and radiator flushes. 💧
Why? Because your cooling system and radiator will thank you. Your cooling system and radiator keeps your engine from getting too hot or too cold. Your car’s owner manual will give you advice, but typically, you’ll need to do this every 30,000 miles.

❄️If your engine is too cold, the fuel’s performance can be affected, but what you really want to avoid is having it too hot. 🔥
If that happens, you might find yourself one day on the side of the highway, with steam coming out of your engine while you for the nearest tow truck. If your engine overheats, you may be able to get it serviced without too much trouble. But, sadly, it also may be the end of the road for your car.

🚕Take care of your tires. 🚐
Why? It doesn’t affect the rest of my car, you may think. Well, it can affect the rest of your car. For the safety of you, your car and others on the road, be sure to get tire alignments, rotations and check your tire pressure on a routine basis. And it should be noted if your tires are misaligned that can cause other issues, such as your car vibrating, which (spoiler alert!) isn’t a good thing for your car.

In short, take care of your car, and it’ll take care of you – and for another 100,000 or so miles, you can focus on the road – and not spend that time wondering how you’re going to pay all of your monthly automobile payments.

For any other maintenance questions or car care suggestions, be sure to check with the professionals at Mr. Transmission.

April is Car Care Awareness Month and with it just being National Pet Day here is the best way to rid your interior of animal fur, mess or damage! 🐶

The best way to rid your interior of hairs is to fill a spray-headed bottle with water and spray all over the offending back (or front) seat. 🚙 Once the rug-load of hair has loosened, wipe away with a squeegee – like that used to clean the shower door – or any flat, smooth rubber-bladed device - you'll be surprised how easily they come off! If smells or an accident appear the back no need to worry! There's 3 options to choose from to help: Mild soap and water. Baking soda paste. Or Vinegar and water. Choose on of these solutions with a towel or a brush to remove the stain and odor! Repeat as needed if remnants of the stain remain after the area dries. Maintain that new car look longer by buying good protectors both for your car and your animal!

The transmission is your car’s gearbox. It controls how much power is transferred to the wheels. Today, most car transmissions are comprised of five or six gears that change automatically as a car accelerates and decelerates. Automatic transmissions have built-in tools to change gears, which helps alleviate the chances of human error. Some people still prefer the control of a vehicle with a manual transmission. Transmissions help decrease fuel consumption and prevent the engine from getting overloaded.

The transmission is one of your automobile's most complicated and critical components. Fixing a transmission requires specialized training and skill. The average automatic transmission in modern cars can be expected to last up to 200,000 miles, but many last longer with proper care. A new transmission ranges in price between $2,900 and $7,100, according to Kelley Blue Book.

APRIL IS CAR CARE AWARENESS MONTH! 🚙 And Spring is here! 🌷
After driving all winter long, you have to remember that the very materials used to let you drive on the road can and will damage your vehicle. ❄️ Rock salts and other anti-freezing minerals can be corrosive to your vehicle over time. Even though they eventually slide off during the spring months, not taking the most basic measures to clean your vehicle can cause these deicers to shorten its life, and can cause certain parts to fail.

While the professionals at Mr. Transmission would enjoy your visit, you probably don’t want to come in too soon because your transmission isn’t functioning the way it should. So what you should do is get your car washed, either by yourself or through a professional car-wash service, when it’s clear that there won’t be any more snow in the forecast. When you go through that process, be sure to take extra care of the undercarriage. The rock salts tend to hang out there in odd places as a result of being kicked up from the road. With road trip season coming up it is important to make sure your car is clean and tires, brakes and windshield wipers are ready for the weather approaching. Winter may have caused issues that may need to be resolved before hitting the roads! Visit or call Mr. Transmission soon to schedule a performance check! ☎️
