The Formula SAE competition is an engineering design competition to design and produce a prototype race car for prospective investors. There are several different aspects of competition, including dynamic events, business presentations, design analysis, and cost reports. While the ultimate goal of the season is producing a competitive race car, there are many more aspects of the project than simpl
y design and production. The team is completely extracurricular and is totally organized and run by interested students. We are responsible for finding our own sponsors to fund the entire project, along with promoting the team throughout the community. No matter where your skills and interests lie, there is a place for you on this team. And if you love the feeling of acceleration, racing, or problem solving, this is no doubt where you belong. Be a student at the University of Louisville, have interest in developing a car, and have time to devote to the team. You DO NOT have to be an engineering student. In fact, we are in desperate need of business savvy people for marketing, and artistic people for our graphics. We currently have 13 main sub-teams. Those being Chassis, Power-train, Drive-train, Suspension, Wheel assembly, Steering, Aerodynamics, Fabrication/Vehicle Assembly, Part/Component Manufacturing/Machining, Braking, Electrical, Marketing, and Graphics. We can always use more help. If you are interested in joining, you can contact us by email at [email protected].
