Detailer's Tip of The Day: Wash your microfiber towels correctly! Doing so will prolong the life of them so you don't have to keep spending money on expensive towels.
You CAN machine wash the towels. I personally prefer using the old school, top loading style washers for my towels. You can use a dedicated microfiber cleaner but if you don't have any on hand, use a good quality wash detergent. I prefer Woolite since it is a somewhat more gentle wash soap.
Wash the towels on HOT. If the towels are extra dirty, leave them soaking in the hot soapy water for some time to let any residue dissolve easier. If using a non dedicated microfiber detergent, have a cup of vinegar handy and pour in a cup or two during the final rinse cycle to remove any soap left over in the towels.
Dry your towels on the lowest setting possible. Hot water is fine but drying hot will cause the fibers to melt and lose effectiveness. You will notice that with improper washing, towels will lose their grabbyness when you use them to wipe which is essentially when the fibers are clogged or broken down.
I will generally dry on the lowest setting for about 20 minutes and hang dry the towels if they aren't dry by then.
