Our "Spring Car Trek" is next Sunday, March 10, beginning at 10 am. "The Traditional Presence of the Ramapough Lunaape in the Northern Highlands" is a 70-mile self-driving through parts of Sussex, Passaic, and Bergen Counties.

Each vehicle receives a tour packet that includes turn-by-turn directions and interesting interpretive information about sites along the route. The route begins in Newton and winds a scenic path through northern New Jersey to the Ramapo Valley County Reservation in Mahwah, crossing briefly into Orange County New York.

Tickets are $35 per vehicle. NJHC requires a minimum of two people per vehicle--a driver and navigator-passenger. You may also take a "rain check" and use the tour packet to drive the route at your convenience on another day. All proceeds benefit the conservation and advocacy work of the New Jersey Highlands Coalition.

Looking for a way to get involved in a local family friendly motorsport activity, here is your chance. Sign-up for a simple easy to follow tour/car rallye of northwestern New Jersey. The Northern New Jersey Region of the Sports Car Club of America and the Motorsport Club of North Jersey (MCNJ) are hosting the 34th Annual USMC Toys for Tots ‘Teddy Bear Rallye’. This is a 50 mile ‘fun’ road rallye to support USMC Toys for Tots. The entry fee is a $35 stuffed animal/teddy bear which will be donated to Toys for Tots. The event will start at Subaru World of Hackettstown on Route 46 in Budd Lake. Registration is at 10:30. Details and online sign-up can be found at msreg.com/2023-NNJR-T4T.

Our newest Car Trek route, "Highlands Harvest: Discovering Our Region’s Bounty," highlights farming and agriculture in Morris, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties. All proceeds support the Coalition’s mission to protect and preserve the natural and cultural resources of our beautiful New Jersey Highlands.
