Before the oil pan goes back on, Travers is repairing damaged drain plug threads — drilling out what’s left, tapping to the next size, and installing an insert for a solid hold.

That rough edge? It’s supposed to look like that. 🔧

These connecting rod caps are fracture-split — manufactured as one piece, then intentionally separated to create two unique mating surfaces.

Those little imperfections allow the cap to fit back together exactly where and how it came apart.

Same rod. Same position. Same direction.

Precision matters. 🤌🏼

E92 M3 rod bearings — getting into the details. 🔧

The old bearings are out and looking good. Now Travers is checking the new bearings and verifying clearance before final installation.

It means installing, measuring, removing… and doing it all over again. But when improper bearing clearance can lead to serious engine damage, it’s worth the extra steps.

Getting ahead of failure on this E92 M3. 🔧

Rod bearings are a known concern on these cars, and this owner chose to address them preventatively — before a potential failure has the chance to turn into an engine replacement.

Oil pan down. Subframe down. Now we’re getting into it. 👀
