Some builds just stamp themselves into the timeline and bring back some damn good memories. This is one of them. 🔥

Mike’s ‘35 Ford Tudor Sedan stopped back by the shop yesterday — looking just as good as we remembered — and immediately brought us back to circa 2017.

We had this car in the shop in bare steel while building the frame, floors, firewall and complete interior when Chip Foose decided to stop by AK. 🤘🏼

Underneath it all is a Golen Engines-built 351W, bored and stroked to make around 500 horsepower, backed by a 4R70W transmission, RideTech 4-link rear suspension, Ford 9-inch rear end, Mustang II front suspension, coilovers on all four corners and Wilwood disc brakes — plus power windows, power locks and air conditioning.

Chip got a look at the car mid-build, checked out what we were working on and, according to Keith, thought it was pretty damn cool.

Nine years later, seeing the finished car sitting back out front makes those old shop photos feel pretty damn special.

From bare steel to this. 😮‍💨🔥

There’s blue… and then there’s Maliblu. 💙🔥

Mercedes Capri Blue.
Custom pearl + flake.
Five coats of clear.
Cut. Polished. Finished.

This ’64 Chevelle came in for the AK treatment and left wearing a finish that changes with every angle. 😮‍💨

The custom Maliblu script by Scott McKay was the perfect final touch.

One hell of a way to send this one home. 🔥

It’s 1946… with ALL the bells and whistles of 2026. 😂🔥

There’s a whole lot happening behind the scenes on this ’46 Dodge as we work through wiring and bringing all of its modern features to life:

Power windows.
Power locks.
Power seats.
Air ride.
Retractable running boards.
Custom controls.
High-end audio with a hidden subwoofer.
GPS + navigation.
In-cab communication system.
Air horns.
Power tilting windshield.

And tying it all together — a gorgeous finished wood bed laid in earlier this week and a custom leather interior. 😮‍💨🔥

Basically, if they could put it in this ’46 Dodge, they did.

Still plenty happening behind the scenes, but this thing is going to be something else when it’s finished.

There’s blue… and then there’s Maliblu. 💙🔥

And a finish like this isn’t made just in the paint booth. The transformation of this ’64 Chevelle Malibu began long before paint.

Driver’s front fender and door replaced. New driver’s quarter panel. Passenger fender and door reconditioned. Passenger quarter fitted with a new skin. Then a 2-inch Harwood fiberglass hood was fit and installed before everything was brought together for paint.

And that blue? Based on Mercedes Capri Blue — we custom tinted it with additional pearl and a different metallic flake until it became something entirely its own. 💙

Scott McKay of Thin Air Graphx laid down the stripe work and custom “Maliblu” quarter-panel graphic before everything was buried under five coats of PPG DCU2021 clear.

Then came the part nobody sees when it’s finished: sanding through 600, 800, 1200, 1500, 2000 and finally 3000 grit before polishing it into what you see here.

Another great community event is right around the corner. 🇺🇸🚗

If you enjoyed the Liberty Car Show, come help support another local show that’s working to become a Londonderry tradition.

Ignite Media by Ember Co. is looking for the vehicles that turn heads. Whether it’s a classic, modern, muscle, truck, import, or project… bring it out and be part of the tradition. Every event grows because people show up.
