Today officially ends North Carolina inspections for window tinting on motor vehicles.  Just what does that mean? Well the statute is still in effect limiting the darkness to 35% on passenger vehicles and the front two doors of trucks, vans and SUVs. How are they gonna enforce it? If you get pulled over, you are now required to roll down your windows… My guess is they’re going to leave this up to the discretion of the officer. So ultimately, since the state has removed it from the safety inspection for motor vehicles, this will now be a point of contention if the state tries to use window tinting on your motor vehicle as a safety issue. Did they just remove themselves from telling you what you can and cannot have on your vehicle?
