Your gauge reads supply pressure in the gallery. The pressure that actually carries the load is generated inside the bearing by rotation, in a gap measured in millionths of an inch.

The layer that wears on a King XP race bearing is 0.0005 inch thick. That is the whole thing.

It is not a wear allowance. We make it thin on purpose, because a thinner overlay has higher fatigue strength, not lower. Reuse means putting that same surface back to work.
