Back to the Past Hot Rods

Back to the Past Hot Rods Together, the two Mikes had already started on several cool projects, when they decided it was time to give the 'shop' a name.

With years of experience restoring, building, and customizing cars from all eras, Mike Abney decided to stick to the classics and open a little shop with his nephew, Michael Milliken. After much brainstorming, and driven by the love of a certain movie, Back to the Past Hot Rods was founded! We focus primarily on cars '72 and back (with maybe one or two thrown in later model than that), and we typi

cally take cars from rusted out shells to running, driving time machines, celebrating the beautiful engineering of car builders of the past.

Making a big push to get to the Turkey Rod Run! We got Mike's R10 lowered, and the replacement panels are going on soon. We have named it 'Patches', as it will be blue, black, gold, silver, and white! 🤣🤣
Michael's C10 is fighting us tooth and nail. We have gone through 9 (9!) different yokes, and have found zero matches. Amazing for a GM 10 bolt. Aside from that debacle, we just need to hang the left front fender, replace the leaking gas tank (which was supposed to be a good tank🙃), button up the suspension, and get it painted, and thrown together (small list for two weeks, right???)
In the mean time, we will be at Moultrie next weekend, hoping to sell the 40 Ford Truck. If anybody knows someone in the market for an almost rust free pre war pickup, we will gladly pay a finder's fee for a referral that leads to a sale.
Aside from that, we have picked up more projects, and are making plans to have some awesome haulers/ showpieces for future shows.
Pictures indicate the current state of the shop, and our admitted insanity, and general love for saving whatever crusty sheet metal we can!
We hope to see everybody at the aforementioned shows, and future shows around the southeast!

Big things happening at Back to the Past!
Updates coming soon!
Until then, come see Mike at the Bushnell swap meet this weekend 9/5/23. Just look for the almost rot free 40 Ford truck, and peruse his mountain of parts.

A lot has been happening lately, I (Michael) just haven't been posting, and that's my bad. I have been putting it in my uncle's ear for a while to focus on better projects, meaning ones that don't come in pieces, and those pieces being rough. He has been consolidating the vehicles laying around the shop, and has FINALLY decided to listen to his very wise nephew (🤣). We have also gained a new retiree "employee", who has fully bought in the awesome shop name, and even bought a new project for himself that will be adorned with our super cool logo! We will now have a sort of shop...uhhhh, truck? It's not quite a truck, but it is very fu**in cool! Stay tuned for more, I will try to post more updates!

We received an update on a truck we purchased and sold last year. We picked it up in June, delivered to it's new home early August, and this is how it looks now! Great job Brandon from New Orleans!

I know it has been a couple months since we have posted an update, I (Michael) am out on the road for work, gonna be away for a while. We (he) are (is) steadily working towards a couple goals. Mainly, trying to flip a couple vehicles this fall, while whittling down the inventory at the shop (he ain't gettin any younger folks!). I have found the deal of the century on a 63 or 64 Cadillac convertible, and will hopefully be picking it up once I am done with my work in the Northeast. In the meantime, if you, or anybody you know wants a 49 4 door, and/or a 49 business coupe, I have both for sale (to help towards the cadi!). Let us know, and keep checking our page for updates. More posts will follow as we can (if I could teach the old man how to take and post photos, haha!). Great Scott!

Well, we can't pass up a good deal! Went to get one truck. Once we had it loaded and were making our plans to get home, stopped for gas, and somebody told us about another truck. Went and looked at it, and just couldn't say no. The pictures speak for themselves, and the looks we got going down the road were worth it alone!

Got the car home, out of the trailer, and assembled the pieces we have.

The latest acquisition. A 1969 camaro convertible (original body!). Once designed by Chip Foose and built by Unique Performance. We are excited to have this car, and see where it takes us! The last 2 photos are the car as it was built originally. Thanks a lot Melvin and Amy!
