🚨WINTER WEATHER ALERT🚨
A friendly reminder to all my SMT family out there that are full timers and still living in your rigs during this potential record breaking cold snap in Nebraska.
📌 If you have an absorption style refrigerator. (One that runs on propane or electric) NOW is the time to turn it OFF. These are not meant to be ran in these temperatures and can lead to costly repairs if not complete replacement as it can cause catastrophic failure to the cooling unit. Your absorption refrigerator will still still function as a "cooler" when off in these temps. Just be cautious as to how often you are opening it.
📌 Best practice for water is to fill your holding tank and run off your pump. Disconnect completely from city hook ups. Use good water management. We are looking to be out of this cold snap in a week so make it last. The theory here is that it takes a lot longer for a 40-50 gal holding tank to freeze compared to the water sitting in your hose outside exposed to the elements, and normally your water pump is located in an interior space with some sort of heat source.
📌 Should go without saying, but run your onboard furnace. I know alot of you trust in your electric space heaters and everything feels fine because its "warm inside". In most cases with most manufacturers, your LP furnace is designed to have a duct designed to pump hot air in your underbelly and areas specific to keep your water lines from freezing
