Got a deal on an sw20 a while back that I couldn't turn down. No major rust, and no accidents. Alabama car. The 5s had rod knock, so I decided to do a basic 2gr swap. 2015 es350 2gr with 75k. All the standard ATS, TCS, and Hux parts. Last time I did this, 10 years ago or so, I had to make a bunch of stuff, this time it's all off the shelf. All standard parts except I'll do something different with the wiring of course.

98 Rav4. You get one 18gauge wire under a 20 amp fuse for injectors and coils. Definitely no room for upgrades on this circuit. Funny thing is, the 96-97 rav4's gave you a lot more.

My 2019 2zrfae 86 mr2. I got it for $800 with 40k. Spotless internally. It reminds me of those $650 4age 20v's I used to get years ago minus the parts you can't get in the US. This has the ACIS manifold and ecu, so around 150hp before the tune. I still need to get this dyno'd to see what Austin's tune did for me. I'd say this is the best quasi drop-in option for the aw11 currently. 4age's are too old (including the 20v), 2zz's are basket cases and also pretty old. NZ's are clean, but don't do anything over a stock 4age except weigh a lot less.

2arfe Haltech r3 harness for Nixspeed. I changed the routing a bit since most Toyota engines with the "vanity cover" just drape the wiring over the valve cover.

What is the opinion about MZ swapping? Is it dead? If your gauge is top-end potential, probably (if it was ever that good). If you start factoring in cost, I'm not so sure. A plain old non-vvti 1mz is not a great way to go, but occasionally I wire for 3mz's on 1mzfe vvti electronics. It seems like a good budget option that people just don't know about? The other thing, which I've yet to wire for, is going aftermarket on a hybrid 3mz is cheaper. No DBW, and vvti only on the intake cam. A lower-end Link, EcuMaster's, or Haltech would work. The more I see people pick up older 3sgte's to swap for lack of being able to afford the top choices, the more I think the 3mz might be a good option.

I get a lot of questions about this. All of my 2gr, 2ar, 2zr harnesses come with a 3pin temp sensor connector. This sensor comes from an 01 Echo and various other toyotas from the early 2000's. Try to use oem if you can. Even out of the junkyard is better than some of the cheap new sensors at this point. Still, it is a convenient way to get the original analog gauges working. I was first to use this approach on the 2gr years ago.

Another "stinker" harness from Wiregap. Seriously though, this is based on a Sienna 5 plug harness. I reoriented the whole thing to tuck over the valve covers and to go out the correct hole in the firewall. The fusebox is relocated to the trunk. About as good as it gets without being scratch built. Not pictured, but I integrated the pedal and obd2 wiring into the body harness. Shielded tefzel for the canbus wires.

1mzfe harness for an mr2 Spyder. Typical dual ecu setup to keep the stock cluster working. Like my mk2 mr2 harnesses, this one has the evap, tank pressure sensor, cannister valve, and rear o2 that you need to help get it registered in California.

Did the junkyard cut the wiring to the front of your engine like what is shown in the picture (or maybe a little worse)? No need to replace your mangled harness with a perfect Sienna harness. Fixing this is included with the service.
