2020 was definitely a doozie for us as well however 2020 brought some new customers in the door that have re-opened what 1st Response was originally founded on. Emergency vehicle upfitting/ warning lighting and vehicle accessories was where it all began. Due to our automotive abilities and customization skills, we have drifted into many different automotive avenues over the years aside from emergency vehicle upfitting.
One thing we have refused to do is provide quantity over quality. We simply will not rush a vehicle out the door just because there is 20 more in the parking lot and we can cut corners here and there to make the installs faster. Every vehicle is inspected by our owner before it leaves the installation bay to be 110% satisfactory.
What we will do is provide a installation that meets or exceeds industry standards, utilizing only GXL rated wire, Molex, Delphi, AMP, and Deutsche pinned connectors combined with stainless steel hardware for exterior applications and OEM wire coatings keep our installs problem free for the life of the vehicle. With proper utilized materials during installation comes a higher build cost however proper utilized material and installation methods means your vehicle stays on the road and is utilized for the means for which it was built, not brought back and forth multiple times to the shop that built it for repair because they were the cheaper bidder in the beginning and used the cheapest materials or lack of for the install.
Our installers have the most diverse automotive backgrounds of any shop in the state and have the abilities, tools and knowledge that no other KY shop in this field can begin to compete with (Yes I said what I said). Our employee roster not only has over 80yrs of combined automotive experience in electronics, upfitting, customization, mechanical and repair, but over 60yrs in combined Law enforcement experience. We know what works, what doesn’t, how equipment is used and how a vehicle should be setup for which it’s designed for.
Due to the vast amount of improper built emergency vehicles that we have seen and repaired in the recent months, we have decided we are going full force ahead with emergency vehicle upfitting. It will be our main focus and primary business however we will still be offering all our other automotive services. We are bringing our name and abilities hard and heavy for the State of KY and all its customers that can utilize our abilities. New larger facility is in the works right here in Lexington, additional qualified staff and a one of a kind showroom is planned.
Ohh and a full time social media person to keep our work updated and posted for the world to see.
