2017 Lincoln MKC 2.0 - THIS IS A KNOWN COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS ENGINE! It applies to various makes and models.
The cylinder heads develop a warp/defect over time that allows coolant to enter the cylinders on the engine. This can cause various issues, most commonly though it’s a rough start or idle, coolant loss, and overheating.
As you can see in the pictures, sticking a camera down in the cylinder while the system is pressurized shows the coolant leaking into the cylinder, which happens to be cylinder 1 on this vehicle. This will also cause misfire codes p0300-p0304, as well as overheating codes, p0217 and p1299.
Unfortunately there is no cheap or easy way to correct this issue. You either have to replace the cylinder head and gasket, or replace the engine.
