A brand-new Ford Bronco Sport came into Level Up Detailing & Ceramic Coating in Lexington, NC for our 9-year self-healing ceramic coating on the exterior and our 7-year interior ceramic coating.

Before any coating went on, we walked the paint.
The truck already had a dealership “ceramic” on it. On the wash, it behaved like a sealant, not a professional coating. Mike names two common dealer products, First Place Finish and Simoniz, and tells you to look them up yourself. They are not the same thing as a shop-installed ceramic coating, and the protection does not last like one.

After a decon wash, clay bar, and iron decon, brown staining was still scattered across the hood. On the piano-black roof, bird droppings had already etched the clear coat. Modern water-based clear is thin. Acid sits on it, and the damage can be permanent before the truck ever feels “used.” Some of the hood spots should polish out. The roof etching likely will not.

That is the whole point of the video. The best time to coat a new vehicle is as soon as you can get it to a professional shop, before lot fallout, bird etching, and a dealer sealant sold as ceramic cost you clear coat you cannot put back.

Most people think window tint is “stick film on glass and squeegee.” A rear windshield is a different job.

This video shows the full process of installing ceramic window tint on a rear windshield — the part you don’t see in a 15-second clip.

Prep comes first.
The glass has to be surgically clean. Old adhesive, road film, and even fine dust will show up under ceramic film forever. We clean inside and out, protect the interior, and get the glass ready so the film bonds clean.

Then the heat shrink.
Rear glass is curved. Flat film will wrinkle and finger if you force it. We shape the film to the glass with controlled heat before it ever goes inside the car, so it lays down without bubbles, light gaps, or stress lines.
Then the install.

Slip solution, precise placement, full squeegee-out, edge work, and a final set. Ceramic film rejects heat (infrared), blocks UV, cuts glare, and doesn’t fade the way cheap dyed tint does. Done right, it looks like it came from the factory.

This is why a rear windshield takes time — and why the result lasts.
