It may have cost me a little bit of my health, a decent amount of my sanity, and a lot of my wallet, but the turbo Fit is a total success!
Got the car on the road the Saturday before last, tune done that following Monday, found some tires and brakes to borrow for the event super last minute, and drove up last Friday.
The car made the 3.5hr trip without a single hiccup, and managed 28mpg while beating on it on the highway to stress test it, I'll take that!
Worked on the car for about half the day on Saturday to replace a leaky axle, fix the underglow, and swap tires, brakes, and fluid to get it ready for a real shakedown.
What we were able to accomplish really blew any expectations I had completely out of the water.
The car was able to do a 1:49.9 around Gingerman on worn tires and brakes, with less than ideal suspension, and a passenger, without a single hiccup.
After some off-season parts and further dialing in, my new goal is to make this the fastest Fit to ever do a lap around Gingerman while being a full fledged street car, and a good looking one at that.
If you would've told me that I'd be doing what I'm doing when I first started this whole Fit journey 5 years ago, I wouldn't have believed you.
But here we are, continuing to push the envelope and showing people what a good old L series is capable of!
