Fresh paint Friday!!!!!!! Tech tip of the day, really check your prep work when you are spraying candies - they will not cover up anything, even the smallest tiny flaw will be magnified ….. don’t go through all the base and all the candy and all the clear just to fine a pinhole… because you can’t just add for candy, you gotta start over from base..,, the smallest flaw and your redoing the full job….. triple check your prep work!!

How do you prep to clearcoat over decals - I scuffed and sprayed with adhesion promoter Bulldog!!! Ruff!🐶 throw me a comment- what do you do to prep them

Go paint something!!!! Three coats of silver base, 3 to 4 coats of candy - two coats of 2k clear - 105 degrees in the booth….. let go!!!!!

I use to always have trouble with silver and grays that had large or extra large metallic laying out moudly -and not even - a Herbert’s Standox school taught by Ray Newton and Tony Mahon made a huge difference- they said yes when you paint silver wet it looks bad and uneven…. But juts let it dry and watch it…. The metallic will flatten out as you watch it dry and get that “flat“ look - droplet coats are key to finish it off but spray it wet wet wet!!!

Get that color right… you can lay it out super slick but if the color is off… we’re starting over…. Take your time, spray out your panels… and go paint something!!!

Sometimes the color just appears to be alive…, here’s a silver base for a cl350 Honda restoration that just dances all by itself….
