My pick for Best Hot Rod at Tri Five Nats was Bob Cook from Willoughby, Ohio. Killer 55 Bel Air Sedan. I have seen this in a few events this year and it just draws me in every time. It sits right it’s got the right wheels and tires and side walls. Simple stock bench seat interior. LS made to look like a big block Chevy. And not perfect paint.
It’s just cool . I kept going back back-and-forth with Carrie on a couple others and I kept saying this one I would want in my garage so that’s how we decided.!!

Back from NSRA Street Rod Nats
Wow, what a weekend.
I been going to this event since I was about 10 years old
I was extremely shocked during the Friday night awards program.
At this program, they do a handful of awards for the industry and the builders .
When they got to their award for person of the year , they started reading the description and they do a great job with their speeches of telling a story and dropping little hints here and there while you’re trying to figure out who it is.
Well, a little bit into their speech I started thinking .. huh… I have a lot in common with this person… he also was a farm kid… he also sold his 4H pigs to buy a 55 Chevy… I looked over at my buddy Hunter and kind of nudged him and said that kind of sounds like me… then I noticed he is recording me and gave me this look like I was an idiot… I turned to my buddy Chuck behind me and realized he’s recording me too…
I guess a few of my friends knew about and were told to make sure I was at the banquet.
As my wife was in Detroit helping run Roadkill Night rave on Woodward ave.
Well I go up on stage.. kinda get choked up and get emotional…and then as I start talking, Jerry Kennedy says, and that’s not all… and Carrie comes out from behind the stage! … yup loose it again!
They contacted her about a month ago.
She put a plan in place involving a ton of people, some of our friends that help her at events, and even my sister and brother-in-law helping up in Detroit to help fill the gap a little bit like Carrie drove six hours to surprise me stayed about an hour with me and then turned around and drove six hours back to Detroit to work her event.
The things she does with her work blows me away and her responsibilities at the events FM3 runs.
I am extremely honored to receive this honor of Person of the Year , it’s still hard to comprehend.
Yup I cried, and some of my friends even cried and got chocked up for me.
What an industry o am lucky to be part of and extremely blessed to have a person like Carrie doing this life with me.
Thank you to all the messages and comments, calls emails and texts that I have had from everybody. It truly means a lot.
