A few shots of our buddy Pat's JKUR Recon from our recent Windrock adventure. Proof you can have fun in a stock rig. Hell, he even did one of the Jeep badge of honor trails, Trail 26, with it.

Sure 35s and a little lift would help but that's because he was trying to wheel with a Toyota mini truck on 37s dual cases and all the other goodies that 's truck has.

We often get asked what's the best platform or what's the best mod and we always answer the same way: the 4wd rig in your driveway, good tires, and seat time. There is nothing you can do to your rig that is better than wheel time.

Had a blast with last weekend. He brought up his 88? Toyota truck to to help me celebrate turning 40. All in I think we did about a 100 miles of trials over 3 days and gave this 16 year project a very sold test. The itch to build a rocklander is strong.

The Rig Specs
88? Xcab 22RE 5 speed with dual cases, 5:29s in the axles with real Bobby Long longfields up front with an air locker, rear is a lunch box. long travel leafs and front hanger, custom tube bed all sitting on TRD wheels with 37x12.5 KM2s and a whole bunch of stuff I forgot.

While not an overland/offroad rig 20 years later this is still the best worst decision I've ever made. Bought a new 2006 Nissan Frontier that then became a catalyst for some of the best friends and memories ever. Hours wrenching with those friends turned into product development on the D40 platform. Those early development cycles spured the interest if you want something, make it concept.

We all have that one thing that sparks the flame and sets your life on a totally different path. Like they say you are one decision away from being a totally different person. Sometimes that's buying a truck.

Helped install a swing out today. Only needed a little modification to one part. Had to bevel the stop for the swing out to clear a weld so the spindle would drop in.

He's got some more gear to go the swing before his next big trip.

Spending the weekend with family in WNC. While not a true overland adventure it is still great to spend time with family in the mountains and support the communities so devastated by last year's flooding. From 36° North Overland we hope you all have a safe and joyful holiday season. We've got some big adventures planned for 26.
