On Sunday, June 19, 2022, one of our brothers, Blake Kocielko was rushed to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, FL. Blake began experiencing sudden dizziness, blurred vision/vision loss and a near syncopal episode. After multiple tests and scans, it was discovered that Blake had 2 masses on his brain. He went into the OR for a craniotomy and biopsy. The tumors were not excised completely because more testing needs to be done first - but the Neurosurgeon feels confident that they are cancerous. This is undoubtedly a devastating blow for Blake, his friends and family, and all of us here at Lake County Fire Rescue.
Blake joined LCFR in early 2021 after working for Lake EMS. He loves the beach and anything outdoors. He is passionate about music and even writes, produces, sings and records his own songs. Some of his hobbies include making t-shirts and cups. His longtime girlfriend Jordan and him have 1 dog together named “Survivor”, a sweet Yorkie that they rescued. Milo, their Pug, unexpectedly passed away this week while Blake was in the hospital.
Blake is taking this time to process what he knows so far, while he continues to recover to his first of what will likely be several surgeries. We cannot even begin to imagine how he and those closest to him must be feeling, but want them to know that they have the full support of Lake County Firefighters, Paramedics and EMTs. We are praying for you brother!
