In a rut, lost your joy, or had a few rough days then Psalm 98, especially 98:4, should give us reason to smile..."Shout to the Lord, all the earth; break out in praise and sing for joy". I love a great Christian song and I love to just shout it out with the real artist during a concert with thousands of others or by myself while working alone of course...lol. There's just something about it that puts a big smile on your face and gets your whole body engaged in thanking our mighty God for all He has done and all the promises He makes to us about the future. This Psalm reminds us that every person and all creation should and will celebrate His grace, His love, His mercies, and all His victories! We're going to have trials and adversities here on earth and we're going to move through seasons of life but the way to do this with joy is to focus on our Lord and Savior. He provides salvation, forgiveness, guidance, comfort, strength, wisdom, praise, prosperity, happiness, peace, and blessings. The list is really endless to the things He's created for us to enjoy His perfect plans for our lives. The problem is we occasionally want to focus on satan and his chaos and his misery. God gives us the ability to choose each day how we are going to react and respond to all things we encounter. When I hear Christians say they don't like singing, praising God, or just living I see someone who has forgotten all God has done for them and I remind them to search for the time they quit living for Christ. It's something that happened and we didn't get closure and blamed ourselves or God! I've been there and others have helped me see the real light to focus on. Enjoy and treasure each day the Lord gives us...it's a gift!

Romans 8:18 is a tremendous reminder of our time on this earth compared to eternity with God, "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us". Paul was very familiar with suffering but his focus was not on this life. If you're reading this, God has blessed us with another day! He's giving us opportunities to share His love, add to our testimony, learn from our sufferings and He is testing our obedience to His word and the Holy Spirit's guidance. Our sufferings are real, painful, hard to endure, and will come often in this sinful world. Once we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we change from the inside out. We realize this world is not our home but we also realize God has a specific plan for each of us. How we respond and react to sufferings tells whom we are following and trusting. We love others, pray for others, and we suffer with them but we also should encourage them to stay focused on Him. He's truly the only solution, the only joy, and the only peace we have here. I saw a picture this week of Dolly standing before the Lord in her coat of many colors and the smile, joy, peace on her face from the brilliance and brightness of His glory all around her made everything else fade away. Seeing God's glory and being in His presence is our final destination and that day will make all other things disappear! Put your trust and faith in Him, He will provide all we need. Have a blessed weekend and share this Hope with others who are struggling now!

Galatians 6:7 reminds us of the consequences of our poor decisions, bad choices, and sins..."Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows". God knows every thought we think, every thing we do, and our motives behind the things we do. We can fool others some of the times, deny our problems exists, but we can never get anything by God. We reap what we sow and our hearts determine what we sow. Some may ask why do I need to ask God for forgiveness if He already knows and we're going to reap the consequences. First, we must ask Christ into our lives and follow Him. This is the only way to know God, have a relationship with Him, and to be able to ask for forgiveness in the firstplace. We can't earn our salvation and we can't earn forgiveness, that's only possible through Jesus Christ. We ask for forgiveness to remove the shame and guilt from the sins we commit. We also ask to strengthen our relationship with Him by being able to repent and turn from the same sins over and over. Christ death gave us victory over sin and the opportunity to live with Him forever in Heaven. Confessed sin allows us to grow and continue living out His plans. Unconfessed sin puts distance between God and us and our hearts start becoming hardened. We begin drifting away from His perfect plan, blessings, and our ability to love and serve others is affected. God knows and we know that, so don't test Him! He loves us but He will not be tested or mocked. The Israelites wandered for 40 years and some never got to see the promise land! What path do you want and what path do you want for others? Have a blessed week.

We talked about the importance of forgiveness last night and I shared Hebrews 8:12, "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more". How grateful are you for God's mercy? Once we choose his gift of salvation, through His Son Jesus Christ, He blesses us, guides us, forgives us, and forgets our confessed sins! We confess our sins and repent throughout the day and ask His forgiveness but the real goal isn't forgiveness but a change in our life and behavior. We turn from our sins, grow spiritually, and as we do we shine brighter through Him for others. Forgiveness from God and forgiveness to others and to forgive ourselves is only possible through a relationship with God, through Jesus. Our human nature is wickedness and sin but that's not who we are as followers of Christ. God's love for us changes us and we learn how to truly love and forgive. It's not easy but it's required to follow Christ. It is impossible to follow Christ and hate others or refuse to forgive others! It's critical to know and study God's word, pray continously to Him, and to recognize the Holy Spirit guides us through the day. Who do you need to forgive? There's always someone and it constantly changes because we're humans and we hurt others and they hurt us. It's part of God's plans to change our hearts and grow us each day. We'll reap a much better crop when we sow better seeds of love and forgiveness. Have a blessed weekend and stay focused on Him!

Matthew 7:13 makes choosing as simple and clear as it can be, especially the NLT..."You can enter God's Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way". I was 25 before I left the wide open road to hell and I thank God everyday for a bold young preacher who helped me see my faults. This verse should encourage and motivate us to share the Gospel. This verse should remind us of the lies we once believed from satan. This verse should sadden us because most remain on the broad road. I thought I had to give up so much but quickly realized I was wrong. I now look back and see the years of the freedoms I have got to live out daily. I thought there was no fun on the narrow road but realized what a lie that was. Like everyone else we view and see things through our worldly experiences until we accept God's gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, His Son. We become a new person at that point and we see, experience, enjoy, and live a completely different life. You can't truly understand the peace, joy, freedom, and fulfillment until you begin walking with the Lord. I'm blessed to be able to share this weekly with others. The wide gate and road is so easy; just do what you want, don't care about others, and everything is available for your selfish desires but the final destination is one you can't leave from. The narrow gate does require you believe and follow Jesus Christ, leave sins and selfish desires behind and truly love, care for, and serve others but the final destination is Heavenly! I've never met anyone who regrets going through the narrow gate...not one! Have a blessed week and pick your gate and road now!

Do you believe the very first verse of God's word, Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth"? The truly amazing power to put all of our complex world into motion is beyond our imagination, we're constantly struggling to understand it all and never will. His love for us guided His decisions on the smallest of details to provide everything we would ever need. He even sent His only Son to die for our sins! His remarkable power and love for us is the reason I can trust Him with each day He gives me. I thank Him for each one and ask Him for the wisdom and guidance to serve and glorify Him in all my actions. I fail at times but He still loves me, He picks me up, and He puts me back on the path He created me for! Our obedience comes from the heart, our Savior is Jesus Christ, and our focus should always be to glorify God in ALL we do and say. That is how He created us. Psalm 91:1 gives us even more assurance, "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty". He protects us and gives us rest and joy! Share these amazing things with others, pray people would enjoy God's gifts, and thank Him for each and every day. Have a blessed weekend!
