Most vehicle appraisals still rely on manual history adjustments, a subjective process that increases risk and reduces profit.

We analyze millions of auction transactions to show exactly what historical events do to the selling price. The result is a VIN-specific value, not a generalized estimate.

A $70,000 truck becomes a $100,000+ vehicle the moment a Shelby, Fox, or Roush package is installed.

But for years, that added value existed in a gray zone, documented on invoices, debated by lenders, and inconsistently recognized in the secondary market.

The problem was never the value. It was the lack of a shared language to prove it.

That's changing.

Black Book now integrates upfitter package data directly into vehicle valuations, at the VIN level where possible. When a lender books a vehicle, the upfit value is already recognized. When a dealer prices inventory, the guesswork is gone. When an upfitter delivers a build, its worth is validated by a trusted third party.

Dealers, lenders, and upfitters have always been part of the same ecosystem. Now they're speaking the same language.

Managing a vehicle portfolio at scale means one thing: you can't afford to be wrong on value.

Whether you're running batch updates across thousands of loans or stress-testing a portfolio against market shifts, the underlying data has to be current, precise, and consistent.

That's what ValuEngine is built for.

Black Book's ValuEngine gives lenders and OEMs a self-service way to run batch portfolio valuations on demand, the same analytically-driven data powering our API, without the integration overhead.
