This Saturday, Sept 5, is the last monthly Cruise-In at Set 'em up Jacks before the big Summer’s End Cruise-In on Saturday, Sept 12. This will be the last chance to pre-register for the big show. It is well worth it to pre-register as you will get a bunch of goodies and the commemorative T-shirt if you pre-pay. We will have a table at the monthly cruise-in to take your registrations. Hope to see a big turn out this Saturday and at the big show!

Cans, Cans and more Cans. Cans to the left of me, Cans to the right of me. Won't somebody please pick up the Cans? Well somebody is here in Lawrence. A great group called Cans for the Community does just that. And the money they collect goes to worthwhile charities and projects. One such donation this year is support of the show and Lawrence Blue Santa. What a wonderful group and supporters of our great community.

Now I'm not advocating that you toss your empty cans down for them to pick them up, but I would encourage everyone to save them up and deposit them in collection bins all over town. At many grocers and churches. What a great way to help save the planet and support worthwhile causes.

Who doesn't like a salty, great tasting snack between meals or a late night pick me up? Huh? Who?.....Nobody, that's who. And we are very fortunate to have a premiere manufacturer of salty goodness right here in Lawrence, KS. None other than Hershey and their Salty Snack division. Even better than their snacks is their commitment to our community. Hershey is a sponsor of the show and O'Connell Children's Shelter.

SO...when you are thinking snacks on your next stop at your fav grocery or convenience store, think Hershey because they are thinking about us.

With all the heat we have been having in Lawrence and surrounding areas, many are ready for Summer to be over. It can't be over though until after the Summer's End Cruise In. So keep the date of September 12 open for your attendance in support of O'Connell Children's Shelter and Lawrence Blue Santa. As always Set 'em up Jacks will be providing food and drinks. We have Rich Johnson After Midnight back to provide tunes.

It's with a heavy heart that the Summer's End Cruise-In family said goodby to a long time supporter and familiar face at our Summer's End Show as well as the monthly Cruise In's at Set 'em up Jacks. Janet Jimenez lost her battle but won the grace of her lord. To Fidel and your entire family, we express our love and condolences. Janet will be missed for sure.
