Last year, we gave this F-150 the full OCD treatment: Interior Restoration, Pro Exterior, and All-in-One Polish.

The gloss was fantastic when it left us, but the owners admitted they’d been running it through automatic car washes with the rollers since then.

And those rollers? They scratch the hell out of your paint.

So, back to OCD it came.

We got the paint back in shape, restored the gloss, and went over proper maintenance with the owners so they can keep it looking this good moving forward.

We started with our Pro Exterior to properly clean and decontaminate the exterior, then followed it up with an All-in-One Polish to bring back the gloss, improve the clarity, and tone down those light imperfections that build up over time.

B-PILLAR & PIANO BLACK TRIM RESTORATION

You know those glossy black pieces between your windows that seem to scratch just by looking at them?

That’s your B-pillar / piano black trim, and unfortunately, it’s one of the easiest areas on a vehicle to swirl, scratch and haze.

Before replacing it, let us see what we can do with it.

On newer Ford F-150s, replacing scratched B-pillar appliqués can quickly add up. New OEM pieces can run roughly $40–$120 EACH depending on location, cab configuration and whether the keypad is involved, before installation. Add professional Bodyshop labor and replacing multiple pieces can become an expensive cosmetic fix.

Two years later… and somehow this coating survived my uncle.

I can say that because he’s family.

This coating was installed about 2 years ago, and since then it has experienced what we’ll politely call… less-than-ideal maintenance.

Actually, let’s just say it:

This is an example of what NOT to do with a ceramic-coated vehicle.

Proper washes? Not exactly.
Regular maintenance? We’ll skip that question.
Making the detailer proud? Definitely not.

Pretty much everything you could put against a coating over two years, this one has seen.

So when it came back to us, we gave it our Pro Exterior + coating maintenance. No new coating. No magic tricks. We simply properly cleaned, decontaminated and maintained what was already there.

Well… take a look at it now.

After two years of questionable maintenance choices, the coating is still doing its job and the vehicle cleaned up beautifully.

Now, before anyone gets any ideas: PLEASE DO NOT use my uncle as your ceramic coating maintenance guide.

Take care of your coating, wash it properly, keep up with recommended maintenance, and give it the best opportunity to perform for the long haul.

But it sure is nice seeing what a quality coating can still do when the owner gives it just about every reason to give up.
