How I got into the industry...
Before I reached Kindergarten, my dad was a truck driver. He’d let me ride along with him sometimes, (because he mostly drove locally), instead of going to daycare, and I absolutely loved it. I’d make my fort in the sleeper and had dolls or coloring books to keep me busy.
It fascinated me how accurately he could maneuver such a huge trailer. I remember hauling a lot of steel and concrete/construction materials. To this day, he is still driving truck and hauling the same loads; except now he owns his own truck and trailer.
Fast forward nearly 20 years, I am never able to sit still and enjoy working multiple jobs at a time. I tried automotive sales at a Cadillac dealership here in town. While I loved the brand I was working for, I wasn’t in love with the job every day. So I continued to look for something else.
I was introduced to the owner of my company after an outing with some friends, and my ears perked up when he mentioned trucks. It took a year after that meeting before I realized I was ready to bring these two parts of my world together. Being involved in a truck sale is much different than automotive; it’s centered on building long term relationships, something I love doing, and consulting to specific needs of a business.
