On Labor Day Weekend 1975, Byron Dragway became the birthplace of big money bracket racing with the inaugural running of the U.S. Bracket Nationals.

Today, big money bracket races take place in all corners of the country and at all times of the year.

But there is only ONE FIRST.

There is only ONE LONGEST RUNNING big money bracket race.

And it’s the 51st Annual U.S. Bracket Nationals, September 4-7, 2026 on the same hallowed ground of Byron Dragway in Byron, Illinois.

Following an announcement of a return to a traditional schedule to start the year, the NHRA has announced the full 20-race schedule for the upcoming 2027 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season. The 2027 campaign, which will be NHRA’s 76th season, will also feature the season-long “50 Years of Force” celebration honoring legendary 16-time Funny Car world champion John Force.
