Don’t End Up Like This Guy…

Last week, our officers stopped a vehicle with a stolen license plate. When they ran the VIN, they discovered the vehicle itself was also stolen.

The driver told officers he had just purchased the vehicle off of Facebook earlier that day and had no idea it was stolen. He was able to provide substantial evidence supporting his claim of simply having bad luck.

🔒 If you’re buying a vehicle online from Facebook Marketplace or anywhere else, protect yourself:

✅ Ask the local police department (where the vehicle is located) to perform a VIN verification before you buy it.
✅ Make sure you receive all the proper paperwork and documentation.
✅ Never buy a vehicle of any kind without a title that matches the vehicle.
✅ Be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true.

A few extra steps now can save you a major headache later.
