Our crew has been hard at work this weekend. Yesterday Cole Heffernan and Brendan responded to a MAYDAY call north of East Harbor. When they arrived on-scene they found seven people and one dog in the water. Everyone was safely recovered aboard our Towboat Molly Lynne. Luckily their engine overheated and their boat wasn’t on fire. This afternoon Cory Schenk and Brendan on the “Charlotte Marie” responded to two boat fires in Put-in-Bay Harbor along with Captain Cole on the Molly Lynne and Captain Dustin Mulligan on the Tug Theresa. The dedication and skill of our crew is unmatched! Thank you to the Put-In-Bay Fire Department for all of their help too-

Our AMAZING crew has had a busy weekend! We were among the first responders when the passenger vessel Goodtime 1 ran aground near South Bass Island in Lake Erie on Thursday. Our captains Jake Dunfee, Cory Schenk, Dustin Mulligan, and Cole Heffernan worked long hours to complete this complex salvage operation. The close-knit Lake Erie Islands Community really came together to make the best out of an unfortunate situation. The Miller Ferry to Middle Bass Island was the first on-scene, but was unable to reach the Goodtime 1 due to draft restrictions. We helped coordinate the safe evacuation of 110 passengers thanks to the immediate response from the Sonny-S Boat Line who was able to navigate the shallow waters of Buckeye Reef. For twenty-nine hours we inched the Goodtime 1 closer to deeper water. Yesterday we removed more than 1,500 gallons of diesel fuel as an added precaution. At 10pm Friday the Goodtime 1 was free and running under her own power thanks to the hard work of the crew on the Tug Prairieland from The George Gradel Company. This successful salvage operation wouldn't have been possible without the help and support from many islanders and locals like Jimmer Kennedy, Towboat US Sandusky, Jet Express Ferry to Put-in-Bay, Kelleys Island & Cedar Point & Todd Blumensaadt, John, Bob, & Devan Schneider, Bob Stausmire, and Dan Wieber. There were many more who offered meals, assistance, and help.
