Camp store renovation is officially underway… 🔨😂

Sometimes you just need a little more natural light.

One minute it’s a perfectly good wall… the next minute there’s a sledgehammer coming through it. 😂

We’ve got some BIG changes happening inside the Oak Hammock Resort Camp Store, and this is only the beginning. 👀

Life of a Campground Owner – Day 31 🛠️🛒

First off, Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸 Hopefully everyone is getting a chance to kick back, relax, and enjoy the day…

But in the Life of a Campground Owner, apparently Labor Day means renovation day! 😂

You’ve already seen us add our new self-checkout kiosk, and now it’s time to finish transforming the camp store around it. We’re talking fresh paint, new flooring, opening up the space, and new shelving and displays to better showcase our merchandise and everything our guests might need during their stay.

We’ve got some work ahead of us, but we’re excited to see this space come together and give the Oak Hammock Resort camp store a whole new look! 🙌

Life of a Campground Owner – Day 30 🛒🏕️

Today Nate and I took a trip to one of our favorite stores… Facebook Marketplace! 😂

We found a local school getting rid of nine heavy-duty metal picnic tables, so naturally we had to go pick them up! These blue and black tables are going to be a great addition to Oak Hammock Resort.

We’ll be putting some at our RV sites and cabins while moving a few of our existing tables around the property to make sure our guests have plenty of places to sit outside, eat together, and enjoy the campground. 🌳🍔

One of the fun parts of owning a campground is finding deals like this and figuring out how we can repurpose them to keep improving the guest experience—one Facebook Marketplace find at a time! 😂

Life of a Campground Owner – Day 29 ⛽️🏕️

It’s time for my weekly pilgrimage to Wawa! 😂

Running a campground means there’s always equipment that needs fuel, so about once a week I’m here filling up with non-ethanol gas for our mower and all the equipment Nate uses to keep Oak Hammock Resort looking its best. 🌴🚜

And if I’m already at Wawa… it would be wrong not to grab myself a hoagie and a Red Bull for the road. 😂🥪

Fuel for the equipment. Fuel for the campground owner. Then it’s back to Oak Hammock to keep knocking out the projects!

Shoutout to Wawa for keeping us going. 🙌

Life of a Campground Owner – Day 28 🛶🌴

Today is an exciting one at Oak Hammock Resort—our brand-new self-service kayak rental station is officially here! 🎉

We partnered with Rent.fun to make getting out on Lake Pierce easier than ever. Just walk up to the rental station, scan the QR code, download the app, choose your kayak, and the locker unlocks right from your phone. Inside you’ll find your kayak, paddle, and life jacket ready for your adventure. 📱🛶

From there, it’s just a few steps to our private boat launch and beach entrance, where you can launch directly into beautiful Lake Pierce.

Paddle the shoreline, explore some of the canals, look for wildlife, or just get out on the water and enjoy everything this lake has to offer. ☀️🐊🐢🦅

And the best part? You don’t have to be staying with us to rent one! Whether you’re a guest at Oak Hammock Resort or a Lake Wales local looking for something fun to do, come on over and get out on the water!

Life of a Campground Owner – Day 27 🚿🔧

Today we’re back in Cabin 1 tackling another one of those behind-the-scenes jobs that helps keep everything running smoothly—preventative maintenance on our tankless water heater!

Twice a year, we flush our tankless units by hooking up a pump and circulating vinegar through the system to help remove scale and mineral buildup and keep them operating properly.

And a big shoutout to Nate for helping me tackle this one! Nate is a huge part of keeping Oak Hammock Resort looking great and running smoothly, and we appreciate having someone on the team who’s always willing to jump in and help get the job done. 👏

It may not be the most exciting part of owning a campground, but preventative maintenance like this is important. Our goal is to take care of the little things before they become big things—and make sure our guests have plenty of hot water and a great stay. 🚿🙌

Life of a Campground Owner – Day 26 🏡🔍

Today we’re inside Cabin 1 doing one of the things our guests may never see—but that makes a big difference in their stay.

Every month, we go through our cabins and do a full kitchen inventory and maintenance inspection. We make sure the pots, pans, dishes, glasses, utensils, and other essentials are stocked and ready to go. We also look for anything that needs a little extra attention or maintenance so we can take care of it before our guests arrive.

And a big shoutout to Allie, who’s in Cabin 1 today making sure that kitchen inventory is on point! 🙌

It’s all about staying ahead of the little things and making sure when you walk through the door, your cabin is ready for you to relax and enjoy your vacation.

Life of a Campground Owner – Day 25 🏓🏕️

Today I’m hanging out by our outdoor ping-pong table and thinking about one question: What should we add next at Oak Hammock Resort?

We already have outdoor ping-pong and horseshoes up on the hill, but there’s always room for more fun. I’m thinking maybe a disc golf course down the main drive could be next! 🥏⛳

But instead of us deciding, we want to hear from you! If you were staying at Oak Hammock Resort, what amenity would you love to see?
