GM's "fix" for their known engine issue is to electronically with a scope and sensors listen for vibration/bearing noise that is not yet perceptible to the human senses yet and if the engine isn't starting to tear up they change the oil cap to reflect a different oil viscosity and change the oil - who could've possibly imagined that after this fix the blown up engine engines would still be a major issue. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Meh dat's no bueno. 🤣 Not the least bit unexpected to me - already told the customer, "just pulling from 40 years plus experience, the way it misfires upon startup for a few seconds and then smooths out I highly suspect a head gasket allowing coolant in the cylinder after it sits a while and when you first start it the coolant fouls the spark plug and as soon as it runs for that 45 seconds or so it's able to start firing after it pushes all the coolant out the exhaust since there is zero evidence it's an injector not sealing off."

He was willing to pay for an actual confirmation...and I'd say experienced theory proven beyond a doubt.

Ole 2009 6.7L Ram 3500 came in with an intermittent no crank and when it did crank it would crank for a half second and quit, crank for a half second and quit and on and on. A scan revealed some anti-theft SKIM key codes but ALSO low voltage codes in multiple modules as well as communication codes. In that case you ignore all codes and pursue the voltage codes.

First thing I noticed was when applying power directly to the starter on the solenoid trigger it would crank continuously - and fire up and run - BUT multiple connections would get hot. So first order of business was to fix half a million miles of degradation. Cut all the cables, crimped copper lugs and used "military style" battery post clamps. Cleared all codes.

BAM. Fixed. SOOOOO many times I get vehicles in and some other shop has soaked the customer for lots of money pursuing the other codes CAUSED by the root cause of the issue.
