If someone’s coming to Lake Charles for the first time, where are you sending them to eat?

Luna’s and Darrel’s is at the top of my list! But there’s so many more local places I love!

Let me know and tag the restaurant!

I love hearing about local family traditions! ❤️

One of our favorites is attending Bon Ton festival every year. What’s a tradition your family looks forward to every week or every season?

Share yours in the comments—I’d love to get some new ideas to try with my crew!

Saturdays around our house are all about family and rest. 🙌

We try to be really intentional with how we start and end our Saturdays—slowing down, spending time together, and making memories that matter. In the middle of busy weeks, that time is everything.

What are some of your favorite Saturday activities? 👇
Family traditions, sports, cooking together, relaxing at home—we’d love to hear!

Real question —
Do you actually go to the parades, or just enjoy Mardi Gras from home?

Having two daughters back-to-back, my family and I went through our fair share of insurance headaches. 😅

I remember feeling like I overpaid for coverage, feeling frustrated that no one seemed willing to help, and wondering if we were doing this “right.” Coming into health insurance the way I did, I made a promise to myself: I would never let another family feel that alone.

I put myself in your shoes because I’ve been there. Walking into the journey of bringing a new child into the world is already stressful—the last thing anyone should have to worry about is not knowing what their insurance covers.

That’s why I do what I do at Gulf South Benefits: to guide families through the process, simplify the confusion, and make sure you and your loved ones are protected—without the overwhelm.

💙 Your Health, Your Life, Our Priority.

As much as I love LSU football, I’ve gotta admit — I get more excited for LSU baseball.

Last year my family had the chance to go to the SEC Tournament, and that just made me appreciate the LSU baseball season even more.

I’m really excited for this season to get started. Anyone else big LSU baseball fans?

Do y’all think we’ve got another championship run in us this year? I’ll be honest — I’m a little nervous with how many guys we lost, but I’m excited to watch Milam and Curiel this season.

Most business owners feel stuck with group health insurance:
High premiums or cutting benefits—neither feels right.

Here’s the key most don’t realize: Plans can be customized.

With the right approach, you can:
• Control costs without cutting coverage
• Offer options employees actually want
• Add voluntary benefits like dental or vision strategically
• Review networks and claims to reduce waste
• Adjust mid-year instead of waiting for renewal

I don’t just sell plans—I help businesses design strategies that fit their team and budget.

Your Health, Your Life, Our Priority

Choosing a group health plan isn’t just a line item — it’s a leadership decision.

I talk with employers every day who feel overwhelmed by group insurance:
• Rising renewal costs
• Confused employees
• Benefits that don’t feel valuable

What I’ve learned is this — the right strategy changes everything.

A well-designed group health plan can:
✔ Support employee retention
✔ Improve morale and productivity
✔ Help control unpredictable cost increases

At Gulf South Benefits, I help businesses move beyond “checking the box” and into intentional planning — choosing coverage that truly fits their workforce and their budget.

If your group health plan feels expensive, underutilized, or unclear, it may not be the plan — it may be the approach.

💭 Scenario I see all the time:
You’re a small business owner.
You chose a group health plan because it fit the budget.

Then renewal hits. 📈
Premiums jump. Deductibles go up.
Your employees start asking questions you don’t have clear answers to.

One employee stops using their insurance because it’s “too expensive to use.”
Another starts quietly job hunting — not because of pay, but because of benefits.

💥 Here’s the real pain point:
A group health plan that exists but isn’t usable hurts morale, retention, and trust.

I believe group health insurance should work for both sides.
✔️ Coverage employees can actually afford to use
✔️ Predictable costs for employers
✔️ No surprise renewals

At Gulf South Benefits, I help businesses:
• Understand renewals before they become problems
• Explore smarter plan designs
• Balance cost control with employee satisfaction

📍 If your group plan feels more like a liability than a benefit, let’s have a different conversation.

When it comes to group health insurance, it’s easy to focus only on cost. But here’s the part too many employers miss:

📊 Health insurance isn’t just a “benefit” — it’s a priority
Nearly 95% of employees say employer-provided health coverage is extremely or very important to them — and it directly impacts their sense of security and job satisfaction.

👉 That matters because:
Employees who feel their health benefits are meaningful are more likely to stay, be engaged, and show loyalty — which lowers turnover and protects productivity.

But too often companies choose plans based on price alone — without asking what employees actually value.

🚧 The real pain point:
If your group health policy is hard to use, confusing, or doesn’t cover what matters most, your people feel it — even if you’re spending more. And that can hurt retention, morale, and your employer brand.

💡 A better approach:
✔ Ask employees what matters most — affordability? access to providers? mental health coverage?
✔ Design benefits around those priorities
✔ Communicate clearly so people know how to use what you offer

When employees understand and value their health benefits, it doesn’t just make their lives better — it makes your business stronger.

🤝 Invest in benefits that matter. Your team will thank you — and your bottom line might too.
