Window Tint Reform Headed to the Governor’s Desk
A lot of bills are moving quickly through the process, and one in particular may interest many of you—especially those who spend long hours behind the wheel. Yesterday, we passed legislation reducing the minimum light transmission for window tint on front vehicle windows from 40% to 25%.
This bill, authored by Representative Deshotel and that I carried in the Senate, aligns Louisiana’s standards with those of many neighboring states, which commonly allow between 25% and 30% light transmission.
As someone who’s had a few bouts with basal cell skin cancer—a condition that’s unfortunately quite common—I’m especially thankful for this bill. It’s a commonsense measure that provides greater protection from harmful UV exposure while still balancing safety and visibility concerns.
This legislation is now on its way to the Governor’s desk for final approval.
