License to the Future
Providing equal access to all young drivers for quality drivers education training.
Rooted in the Foundation’s charitable purpose of shaping the future of car culture while celebrating our automotive past, the Hagerty Drivers Foundation will provide grants in 2026 to students seeking formal training through an accredited drivers training program. Through this License to the Future program, the Foundation provides grants up to $500 to young drivers between the ages of 14 and 18- years-old who plan to complete their Drivers Education within 90 days of their application.
How to apply and guidelines
During open application windows, an application button will be visible on this page. That button will take you to an external platform to complete a simple online questionnaire about why you are excited to drive! (Note – if the grant application window is closed there will be a message posted and there will not be a way to access the application link).
Applications are accepted from all 50 states and Canada and the program is open to young drivers between the ages of 14 and 18- years-old who plan to complete their Drivers Education within 90 days of their application. The License to the Future Grants will cover up to $500 of an accredited driver’s education program tuition.
Grant applications are awarded based on the quality of the application, funding permitted. Due to the program’s popularity, demand for the grants outpaces supply. Spots are highly limited, so be sure to get your applications in early on the opening dates.
If your application is approved, you will receive a "Student Accepted Form" via email that must be completed in order for us to send your grant. The Student Accepted Form has a deadline of 2 weeks. If this deadline is missed, your grant will be forfeited.
Grants are awarded directly to the Drivers Education school and cannot be sent to an individual.
Grants cannot be used to reimburse students or parents who have already paid for driving school tuition.
