Many times, our customers will ask if we still sell cars. The answer is "yes"; however, the used car market has changed dramatically since 2020. It used to be that we would purchase the majority of our late model Honda and Acura units from fleet sale events where American Honda Lease Trust would sell off their lease-turn-in vehicles, in both Orlando and Sarasota, Florida. In 2020, the new-car production numbers got lower, and there must be a new-car supply to have a used-car supply. With the lower supply numbers came scarcity and with scarcity came inflated new and used car prices. Currently, the local auto auctions are more of a disposal site for worn-out and/or previously severely wrecked cars than a source for good, late model vehicles.
Last week a long-time customer of ours wanted us to find him a 2013 thru 2018 Acura RDX. With the power of the internet, we located a 2016 Acura RDX at a Volvo dealer in NC. The Volvo dealer had taken the one-owner RDX in on trade. We obtained the best price for the vehicle, contacted our customer, who approved the price for the 2016 Acura RDX. We then flew our Piper Aztec to NC, picked up the vehicle and brought it back to the shop, the same day. It was still sent thru our service department for inspection and servicing. Today, our customer picked up their 'new' 2016 Acura RDX.
