The Night Before Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas
And in the garage
Lay a mid-engine beauty
With an engine quite large
The finish was polished
Ceramic coated with care
Through the glass I could see
The beast nestled in there
Then, I remembered and started to gloat
For in my left hand I held the remote
I pushed the small button and was happy to see
The cockpit lit up, just waiting for me
I opened the door and settled inside
My hands gripped the wheel, I was ready to ride
I pushed the “start” button, up near the dash
She let out a roar as I stepped on the gas
Down the driveway I flew and turned into the street
Stomped on the gas and turned up the heat
Up on the highway I started to fly
As others in cars watched me streak by
The Fords, and Toyotas, and Audis I passed
Saw just a flash as I was too fast
When I looked up behind me and blue lights I did see
I knew right away, they were coming for me
I pulled to the right and slowed to a stop
Saw a big man in blue, yep he was a cop
He peered in the ‘Vette
And looked quite amazed
My hands on the wheel, in my PJs.
He leaned in the window
And tried not to chuckle
As he surveyed my jammies
caught in the buckle
He asked for my license
Then said “never mind”
“It’s Christmas Eve, he declared
I ought to be kind”
“Now go back to your home
And explain to your mate”
“Why you’re stuck to your seatbelt
In your C8”
Then before I could blink
He left in the night
The lights on his car, a strange Christmas sight
For as the fog lifted my view was quite clear
His cruiser was pulled by eight tiny deer
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”
