The lineup: All books have some overlap to stand alone but their focus is different. BOOK 1 focuses on building the traditional Pontiac engine including aftermarket component part numbers used on actual builds. BOOK 2 focuses on putting together a combination to fit your needs and includes 5 different styles of build for each displacement of 350, 400, 428, 455/aftermarket 3” main crank to make a 455+” with a 400 block, 461” stroker w/BBC dimensioned crank, and 488” with 4.5” stroke crank. Includes part numbers. BOOK 3 focuses on the the REASON why a Pontiac performs the way it does compared to the big 3. Includes dyno sheets and analysis of actual builds. BOOK 4 is a combination of all 4 previous books and includes a piston position comparison between a 6.625” rod and 4.21” stroke crank and a BBC dimensioned crank with 6.8” rod and the REAL AND ONLY REASON to buy a BBC dimensioned stroker assembly. Also includes a handy .050 cam duration selection chart using drivability and performance for 350, 400, 428, 455/461, and 488. I just had a conversation with a guy and after a few minutes of tips, and (I hesitate to say tricks), his high HP Pontiac is running great.

When it comes to high performance engines, I can’t stress enough how important tuning becomes because it allows more of everything that makes power. Bigger ports, longer cams, more carburetion, compression, etc. Yeah EFI is cool but it isn’t magic. It helps to know what an engine needs. Timing is everything. Without enough timing you aren’t going anywhere. And of course with too much, that’s a problem too. I e seen a LOT of guys over the years, myself included, say they had their timing all in by X amount of rpm, let’s call it 3,000. Now tell me; what race was over by 3,000 rpm? Whose HP peaked at 3k? How did your TQ output at 3k change for the worse because you didn’t have all 36 degrees in by that RPM instead of, let’s say, 3,500 or even 4,000? Utilizing a moderate ignition advance curve can allow you to run your 580-600HP Pontiac on the street easily. THIS STUFF IS MEANT TO BE FUN! Let’s get and keep those toys running good👍👍👍

these books walk you through the things you need to know about building horsepower and torque in any engine while using the traditional Pontiac engine as the example. With actual builds, part numbers, recipes, dyno sheets, and engine/transmission/torque converter suggestions for mild-to-wild builds for 350, 400, 428/434, 455/461, and 488. There is something for everybody!

SOUND UP! I’m a fan of cubic inches... https://www.amazon.com/Pontiac-Speed-Reading-from-Sandoval-Performance-5-book-series/dp/B0BRP4KH1S It makes everything so much easier. When building for street performance and/or cost effectiveness, building a larger engine should be considered because it doesn’t cost any more (or very little) to over the price of a smaller engine. Yes, that’s a basic fact. But for a little more than the price of some 475HP aluminum headed, roller cammed “professionally built” strokers, you can build your own 600HP Pontiac stroker for the same or less money.

We all know an engine needs to move air… https://www.amazon.com/sandoval-pontiac-Books/s?k=sandoval+pontiac&rh=n%3A283155

for a complete package but taken to an extreme, that would entail the biggest heads, the biggest cams, intakes, headers, and carbs. But we know that’s not true… not if you want the engine responsive at the lower rpm range. There’s no cure for a bad combination, but there are ways to enable the use of bigger ports and keep the fuel from falling out of suspension, there are carburetors with 4 corner idle circuits and drilled butterflies along with more sensitive air bleeds to run those low vacuum cams. And with a properly sized exhaust, 600+ horsepower PONTIAC with plenty of torque ARE more than possible. They have been here. Tell that kid in the Challenger “Come get some!”
