Automotive Customer Satisfaction is what RodsShop is all about. Does anyone remember the days when all Filling (Gas) Stations were all full service? You pull up to get gas, if not one attendant comes out you may get two or three. You got your fuel but while they are pumping gas, they are cleaning the windshield, checking the oil and the air in the tires. Today it is all self-served and when you fi

nd a full service, the cost of fuel is higher and even then, you get one attendant to pump gas only and in most cases you have to ask to check anything else out for you. True, we have more people in the world than in those days but why does that mean you have to treat the customer with less enthusiasm of wanting to serve them with style? Because the lack of true satisfaction service, RodsShop offers a consulting service to help those who feel they are not getting good advice or help. I have closed up my shop to the public to pursue other opportunities but I am offering a consulting service. I would be happy to answer questions about your car, give you advice, troubleshoot your issues and if your local, I can even be hired to come to your place and stand over your shoulder. My rates are $25 and hour with no minimum to phone calls or emails, so if I can send you an email or wrap it up on the phone in 10 minutes, then that would be $4 and some change. I do charge a $15 minimum to come out on site (local only) even if I can't solve your issue. I personally have been working on cars, machinery, motorcycles and a variety of other related things for over 40 years. I have always put my customer’s needs first, I know what it is like to hand over your car to someone you do not know and wonder what is going to happen to your car. I am personable and friendly and always ready to listen to you about your issues and concerns and address them accordingly.

❄️ Winter Is Coming: Don't Let Your Brakes Let YOU Down! ❄️

As the temperatures drop and the threat of slick, icy roads looms, there's one critical component of your vehicle you absolutely cannot afford to overlook: your brakes!

Many drivers don't realize just how much harder their brakes have to work in winter conditions, and how quickly minor issues can become major hazards.

Here's why getting your brakes inspected and serviced BEFORE winter hits is a non-negotiable:
1. Slick Roads Demand Peak Performance: Snow, ice, and slush drastically reduce tire traction. Your brakes need to be in optimal condition to deliver maximum stopping power in these low-grip scenarios. Even a slight delay in response or an uneven brake can be the difference between a safe stop and a scary slide.

2. The Danger of Warped Rotors: As mentioned, a warped rotor is particularly dangerous on slick surfaces. It causes inconsistent and uneven braking force. Imagine trying to stop on ice when one wheel is braking harder than another – it's a recipe for a skid and loss of control! The vibrations can also make steering difficult, leading to longer stopping distances and a much higher risk of an accident.

3. Worn Pads & Low Fluid: Worn-out brake pads reduce your ability to stop effectively, period. Add a layer of ice, and your stopping distance can multiply! Low or old brake fluid can also compromise your braking system's performance, especially in extreme cold.

Don't wait until the first snowfall to think about your brakes! Get them inspected now. A quick check can identify worn pads, compromised rotors, or other issues that need addressing. Investing in your brakes now is investing in your safety and the safety of everyone on the road around you.

Why Tire Pressure Drops in Cold Weather ❄️

When temperatures drop, so does your tire pressure — about 1 PSI for every 10°F! ❄️

Underinflated tires = poor traction, worse fuel economy, and faster wear.

Check your pressure often this winter — or swing by and we’ll handle it for free.

🚗 Why Checking Your Oil is a Smart Move for Your Vehicle's Health! 🚗
It might seem old-school, but regularly checking your engine oil is one of the easiest and most crucial ways to keep your car running smoothly, especially if you drive an older model!
Here's the lowdown:
Your engine oil is the lifeblood of your vehicle. It lubricates moving parts, reduces friction, cools the engine, and helps keep it clean. If your oil level gets too low, or if the oil itself is dirty and degraded, it can lead to serious engine damage (and very costly repairs!).
🔍 How often should you check it?
For older vehicles (generally those without advanced low oil warning systems, or if your car tends to consume oil), we recommend checking your oil at least once a month, or every few fuel fill-ups. It only takes a few minutes! Newer vehicles with lower mileage might not need it as frequently, but it's still a good habit to get into. Consult your owner's manual for specific recommendations for your car.
Why the special mention for older vehicles?
Older engines can be more prone to consuming oil over time as seals and components wear down. They might not have the same sophisticated sensors as newer cars, meaning you won't get a dashboard warning until the oil level is critically low. A quick manual check can catch issues before they become major problems!
Don't wait for a warning light – be proactive! A little preventative maintenance goes a long way in extending the life of your beloved ride.

The future of transportation is electrifying, and the pace of innovation is accelerating faster than ever! ⚡️

It's not just about going green anymore; it's about revolutionary tech that changes how we drive, charge, and even interact with the power grid.

Here are the game-changing trends shaping tomorrow's roads:
🔋 Battery Breakthroughs: Say goodbye to range anxiety! The shift to solid-state batteries and new chemistries is promising longer ranges and greater energy density. Coupled with 800-volt architecture, charging times are shrinking to minutes, not hours.

🌐 Smart Integration: Your EV is becoming a mobile energy hub. Innovations like Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology mean your car can sell energy back to your home or the power company, adding value beyond driving. Plus, connected services and over-the-air (OTA) updates are turning cars into rolling computers.

📈 Market Diversification: The market is exploding beyond luxury sedans! We’re seeing a surge in affordable, mainstream EVs, rugged electric pickups, and specialized vehicles like electric campers. Competition is driving down prices and increasing consumer choice.

We dove deep into the technologies, future models, and regulatory drivers accelerating this transition. Ready to see what's next for the auto world?
