Pedro The Spider Monkey Pedro was rescued from the side of the road. Watch as he grows and interacts with his new family. My name is Pedro. I was afraid and hungry.

I am a spider monkey from the jungles of Costa Rica/Nicaragua. I was too young to tell my story of how I ended up in this situation. I was found by my new Mom and Dad on the side of the road in a very dangerous situation with a rope around my neck and tied to a chair just a few feet from Semis and heavy rural traffic. Being poorly cared for with improper nutrition and drug around by my neck. They

made a deal to get me off the street and from that point on the journey began for a safe place for me to sleep proper nutrition and a people/vet doctor. Mom said "It's a chance to give Pedro the best life we can". When a baby monkey is removed from the family and the mother, its devastating for the monkey. This is not in anyway an easy path. Just because you see a cute monkey video or picture DO NOT BUY A MONKEY. The psychological effect it has on the animal is not okay. It requires constant care and there is no chance to be returned to the wild as I never learned to forage for food, I have no troop(family) for protection and to learn from and I would most likely die left alone. Any contributions go to more Papaya(my favorite) and better environmental structures for me to live and enjoy life.
