Your cabin air filter cleans the air that comes into the inside of your car through the heating and air-conditioning system.

It helps filter out:

* 🌫️ Dust and dirt
* 🌸 Pollen
* 🍃 Leaves and other debris
* 🚗 Exhaust fumes and some odors (if it’s a carbon/charcoal filter)
* 🦠 Some airborne particles

A dirty or clogged cabin air filter can cause weak airflow from the vents, unpleasant smells, foggy windows, and reduced heating or A/C performance.

It’s usually recommended to replace it about every 12,000–20,000 miles or once a year, though dusty or heavily polluted driving conditions may require more frequent replacement.

It’s different from the engine air filter—the cabin filter protects the air you breathe inside the car, while the engine air filter protects the engine.
