25 years. A quarter of a century. Seems like it’s been forever in some instances. Yet it in an instant I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when we found out what had happened. I remember the feelings of fear, the sadness of those falling from buildings and burning from the massive flames. The sadness flashes back quickly for those losing their lives and those losing their loved ones. But the pride felt watching an entire country drop all of its differences, all of its pain, to come to the Aid of those most in need. The swelling pride of watching every race, class, and creed rush to a single spot for nothing more than to help others who are in desperate need. That’s the America I’ve prayed we can remain. May we never forget those lost 25 years ago, but may we never forget who we were after that tragedy. A nation of people who simply cared for others in their most needed time.
