What Is a Smoke Test and Why Do We Perform One?

A smoke test is one of the most effective ways to find leaks that can’t be seen with the naked eye.

When a vehicle has an EVAP leak code, vacuum leak, or certain drivability issues, the problem is often caused by a tiny crack, loose connection, damaged hose, or failing component somewhere in the system.

Instead of guessing, we connect a smoke machine and safely fill the system with diagnostic smoke.

Then we watch.

Where the smoke escapes, the leak exists.

It’s that simple.
