Today’s mission is hiding right beneath that silver circle: replacing the high-pressure fuel rail feed hose. On a direct-injection engine like this, that little rubber line is holding back a massive amount of pressure. Over time, under-hood heat cycles do a number on rubber, and "acceptable leaks" don't exist in a fuel system unless you want an impromptu engine bay bonfire.

Just another day of keeping the horses happy and the fuel where it actually belongs. Back to the wrenching! 🔧🏁

The sports car that was way ahead of its time.

The Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 debuted in 1990 as Mitsubishi's flagship performance car, and it came loaded with technology that seemed straight out of the future.

Under the hood sat a 3.0L twin turbocharged V6 producing up to 320 horsepower in later models. Power was sent to all four wheels through an advanced AWD system, giving the 3000GT incredible grip and performance for its era.

But the engine was only part of the story.

The VR-4 was packed with technology rarely seen in the early 1990s, including four wheel steering, electronically controlled suspension, active aerodynamics, and all wheel drive. At a time when most sports cars focused on raw power, Mitsubishi was pushing engineering innovation.

The result was a car that could compete with some of the biggest names in the performance world while offering technology many competitors couldn't match.

• The 3000GT VR-4 featured active aerodynamic components that automatically adjusted at speed to improve stability.

🔧 Wrench Wednesday 🔧

Customer concern:

⚠️ Electrical Malfunction
⚠️ Battery Light On

Sounds expensive, right?

Fortunately, the culprit wasn't a failed steering system, bad battery, or major electrical problem.

It was a shredded serpentine belt.

The serpentine belt drives the alternator, which keeps the battery charged and powers many of the vehicle's electrical systems. Once the belt starts coming apart or slips off, the alternator can no longer do its job properly.

When voltage drops, modern vehicles can light up the dashboard like a Christmas tree with warning messages that may seem completely unrelated.

For this Audi A5, we found the damaged belt, replaced it along with the belt tensioner, and got everything back operating as designed.

The lesson?

Sometimes the dashboard is telling you what's affected, not necessarily what's broken.

A small belt can cause some big complaints.

Wrench Wednesday🔧: when engineers decide the best hiding spot is “just put it in the hatch and confuse everyone later”

Today’s guest: the body control module in an Audi Q3 living under the rear trim like it pays rent back there.

This little brain runs the show for a ton of the car’s everyday stuff. Lights, locks, windows, wipers, and all the “why is this acting weird today” features.

And of course it is not under the dash like a normal human would expect. Nope. Back of the car. Under trim. Behind panels. Where only brave techs and stubborn trim clips go.

Fun fact: it is basically the car’s group chat admin. If something is acting up, there is a decent chance it is in here managing chaos quietly.

Anyway, respect to whoever decided this was a good spot. We see you. We are still pulling the trim.
