Just a reminder that the Rickie Ride is coming up next Saturday! If you are planning to attend and want to be shuttled back from strawberry lake, please go to our page, find the event link and click the "going" button. We are just trying to make sure that we have enough spots for everyone, so registering that you are "going" is extremely helpful. For a little added incentive, we are drawing two names out of the list of people that say they are for sure "going", they will win a free new 5 gallon fuel jug! So, please sign up.
We also wanted to touch base on something else, we have had a ton of interest in riders wanting to come. Now, all are welcome to attend, but know what to expect. The trail system that we are riding is advanced and in some places it's very difficult. It's helpful if you have rode most of these trails, had a proper and reliable single track offroad bike, have plenty of fuel range and physically able to conquer 40 miles of intense steep mountain single track. Yes, a 80 year old man is coming, but if you know Rick, he is not your average human, lol. If you are up for the challenge, but you have never rode Alpine trail before, it is encouraged to buddy up and help each other throughout the ride.
We at Rickie's Shop don't want anyone to get hurt or breakdown. About 2 miles into our ride is pretty much the point of no return for broke down bikes or injured riders. At that spot there is a steep down hill with a really sharp switchback, a bike can't be pushed up it and a injured rider would have a really hard time getting back up it. The rest of the ride is deep in the mountains with no rodes to bail out on.
We are not wanting to scare people away, we just wanted everyone that is attending to know what to expect. We think it is going to be a great time, with great people!
Remember if you are planning on coming and riding to the end, please bring 3 tie down straps with your initials on them(for the shuttle),a capable bike and a capable rider. Rickie's Shop hopes to see alot of you there!
Ps: if you are a Kove Rally rider, Rickie's Shop is proud to announce that we are having the second annual Rickie's Rally Ride on September 26th! Last year was a huge success and this year we are doing it again. The guys at Rickie's just pre-rode and data logged this year's route. It is 240 miles of all new country, so if you have a kove, get prepared for next month. We will give out more info on the Rally Ride next week.
