Specialty Auto Auctions

Specialty Auto Auctions Bi-Annual Classic Car Auction in Northern Colorado. Muscle cars, street rods, customs, trucks, late models/exotics, and more!

Specialty Auto Auctions and Sales was formed in 1987 by Bruce and Helen Douglas in Longmont,CO. Since then we have held over 100 sales in Colorado, South Dakota, Texas, Nebraska, and Wyoming. We currently hold three auctions at the Larimer County fairgrounds (The Ranch) in Loveland, CO. and two auctions at the Adams County fairgrounds in Brighton, CO. Our goal since inception has been to give our

customers the best service possible and to create a fun and exciting environment in which to trade cars. This goal is based on honesty, integrity, reasonable pricing, and customer satisfaction. Selling with Specialty Auto Auctions and Sales begins by simply contacting our office. To ensure that your car will be auctioned at the time you desire, please consign as soon as possible. We also recommend that you review your title and make sure that the vehicle identification number matches the number on your car to avoid any problems. To help bring top dollar for your vehicle you should have the car detailed (clean, waxed, and shiny) outside, inside, and under the hood. Your car will be on display as soon as you bring it in. Many of our customers prepare a fact sheet telling the history of your car and what restoration work has been done. Check-in: When you bring your car to the sale it is necessary that you bring the title (registered in your name) and any other pertinent legal documents. The title and VIN will be examined, verified, and processed at the door by one of our employees. You will be asked to give an accurate written description of your vehicle. Please be honest in describing your car; this will be read by the auctioneer while the car is on the block, and it allows prospective buyers a chance to become familiar with your vehicle. Consigning a Car: Putting your car in with a Reserve price means that you can set a minimum price that you are willing to sell your car for. Only our employees and you will know the reserve price; this is a special feature for you, the seller, and is not meant for the buyer to know. It is important to be realistic about the "reserve" price. If the bidding on the block does not reach the amount you specified before the auction, you do not have to sell your car. However, you can always lower your reserve and accept a bid while your car is on the auction block. The entry fee for a reserve number is $200-$600, and the commission when the car sells is 8% of the selling price. Please note, all entry fees are non-refundable. Putting your car in as a No Reserve allows your car to be sold to the highest bidder. There are usually more active bidders when a no reserve car is on the auction block: when people know the car is selling for sure, they are more likely to bid. This is a good way to put your car in if you just want to sell it and are willing to take a chance on what the car will bring. The entry fee for a no-reserve number is $150-$300, and the commission when the car sells is 5% of the selling price. Please note, all entry fees are non-refundable

Specialty Auto Auctions and Sales asks that you drive your own car across the auction block, that way you will be there to answer questions that may arise from bidders or the auctioneers. When your car sells, please go to the office to sign all of the necessary forms to complete the transaction. In the event your car does not sell, you will still need to go to the office to pick up your title and other paperwork needed to release your vehicle. Still, we encourage you to leave the vehicle with us until the end of the auction. Many times we will get an offer to purchase your vehicle after it has gone across the block. Buying a car through Specialty Auto Auctions and Sales offers you a unique and exciting way to own the car of your dreams. In order for you, the buyer, to make a wise purchase, you should inspect the vehicle carefully yourself. Please remember antique or collector cars are sold AS-IS and histories are often incomplete or unknown. Bidder Registration is necessary if you want to purchase a vehicle at one of our sales. There is no charge to register, but you will need to present your drivers license, social security number, current mailing address, current phone number, and an accepted method of payment. If you would like to bid at one of our sales, we require one of the following forms of payment:

Cash -green money
Personal check--**only if you bring a letter of credit from your bank.**
This Letter must include: name, account #, amount available for the specific date of our sale, and a statement that "no stop payment will be issued". Wire Transfer - transfer of funds from your bank to ours on the Monday after the sale. (There is a $25.00 fee for this option.) After Purchasing a Vehicle: You will need to go to the office to pay, sign the bill of sale and any other paperwork for that particular car. Please note that a buy fee of 5% at all Colorado sales, and 8% at all sales in Nevada and South Dakota, minimum of $100, will be added to the purchase price of each vehicle. Specialty Auto Auctions will handle all title transfer work and will collect state sales tax when required. After you have signed and paid for your vehicles, feel free to take your new toys out for a spin and experience the joys of classic car ownership! Financing: Should you need financing to purchase the car of your dreams, we will be glad to assist you.
