Porsche & Audi owners: Don't ignore that low coolant warning.

This beautiful Porsche Cayenne GTS with the 4.0L twin-turbo V8 came into Protech for routine maintenance. The owner also mentioned that a low coolant warning had been appearing during startup.

During the oil service, our technician found the coolant reservoir below the minimum level and discovered evidence of coolant leaking in two areas.

One was near a coolant hose connection. The other was at the front of the engine, around the water pump and coolant distributor housing, an area that required a closer look with a specialized inspection camera.

Cooling system leaks are a known concern on certain Porsche and Audi V8 engines, and catching them early can help prevent more serious problems.

If your Porsche is losing coolant, displaying a low coolant warning, or requiring frequent top-offs, it's worth having the system properly inspected.

Mercedes-Benz coolant leak? This is a common place to find one.

This Mercedes C300 came into Protech with a coolant leak. Our technician traced the leak to the upper radiator hose, which incorporates several plastic components that can become brittle and fail over time.
We also found that leaking coolant had contaminated and damaged the serpentine belt, another good example of why it's important to address coolant leaks before they lead to additional problems.
If you're noticing a coolant warning, low coolant level, a sweet smell, or coolant underneath your Mercedes, don't just keep topping it off. Finding where it's going is the important part.

It’s the little things you don’t see that matter.

This is Nate cleaning corrosion from the wheel-to-hub mating surface on a BMW before the wheel goes back on.

Why take the extra time?

Rust and corrosion trapped between the wheel and hub can prevent the two surfaces from mating properly. Even when the lug bolts are torqued to specification, that corrosion can compromise proper wheel clamping as it shifts or breaks down over time.

That’s why whenever we remove a wheel at Protech, we clean the mating surfaces before reinstalling it, then properly torque the wheels to specification.

Does it take longer? Absolutely.

But it’s the right way to do the job.

Most customers will never see steps like this. We think they’re some of the most important ones.

We’re not doing something different. We’re doing it better.
