✨ ️Get to know the owner, Kevin! More than a gearhead, he's a hard working local like you.✨️
Born a Florida native in Cocoa Beach Florida, Kevin's family moved to North River Shores when he was just two years old and he’s been here ever since! His mother, also a native Floridian with a love for the beach, would keep her boys busy in the sun and water. Growing up living the traditional Florida life of beach, boats, water and mangroves… he too has always had a love for the water. At twelve, Kevin and his buddies were exploring deep in the mangroves as young Florida boys do when they found an old, abandoned Jon boat. The true beginning of Kevin’s Custom Marine happened that day when he drug that sucker out of the mangroves, and with the help of his father brought it back to his family home. His father then purchased him an old beat-up boat for sale in the neighborhood. Kevin and his father (mostly his father) took the motor from that boat, and with the mechanical advice from Dan at the local marine parts store, hooked it up to that little Jon boat from the mangroves. After running that boat out on the river almost every day and using it for a while, Kevin was able to sell the it for a decent profit for a young boy. Naturally, Kevin continued to build his mechanics, and various other skills as he got older.
During his high school years, Kevin had an incident at his family home that left his left arm severely severed. His life was saved by a local Martin County police officer who stopped him from bleeding out. He is forever grateful to that man for saving his life that day. He was trauma hawked to Saint Mary’s where he received emergency surgery. Glass had severed his arm all the way down to the bone. He had reconstructive surgery for his muscles, nerves, veins and arteries. The surgeon was the best there was and he did an amazing job of saving Kevin and his arm. What followed was intense and painful physical therapy, to try and regain mobility of his forearm and hand. Without the help of a very talented and dedicated physical therapist, Kevin would not have use of his hand and arm the way he does today. She explained to him that if it was too painful and he could not go through and do physical therapy the way he needed, he would not have function of his hand. He found strength and resilience inside himself and did everything she said, and he has close to full function of his hand today. It took extraordinary measures by three wonderful people for him to even be able to do what he does today, as well as all the other professionals that helped that day. Thank you to the police officer, surgeon and physical therapist that gave great efforts for Kevin’s life. He thanks God for putting these wonderful people he created in his life when he needed them.
Through adversities, struggles and some very important life lessons; he has built skill, talent and dedication to his craft. After meeting his wife in 2009 and having their first child in 2011, he became very commited to providing for his family and really began to hone in on his mechanic skills. Practice makes perfect and working in the industry is the best way to learn it! Working several different jobs in the marine industry offered different mechanic and life lessons, we'll say. By 2015 Kevin and his wife welcomed their second child and he officially stepped out on his own and started his business. He’s only been getting better since! He often expresses how blessed he is for doing something he genuinely loves doing. He’s a Florida boy at heart and the boats are in his blood! Started with a good Florida life thanks to his parents, and an old Jon boat in the mangroves. Now he is four children in, married for almost 17 years and has a booming business that he started to support his family when it was just him, his wife and their daughter. Doing stuff he started at 12 years old and has loved ever since.
