Ford Explorer in and out over the weekend for front CV axles, front brake pads, and a good cleaning inside and out. Boots on the cv joints had failed resulting in the grease leaking out. After the grease leaked out the joints ran dry and would make a click or popping sound at times.

The ford 3.5 ecoboost water pump driven off the timing chain in this 2014 Explorer. The owner was told it just had a bad hose and when it got to my shop we realized that was not the case. This oreillys rapid fit pump comes with double gaskets and brand new, 10 mm bolts to ensure it won’t leak again.

Gas prices are through the roof right now! If you want to make every drop of that expensive fuel count, schedule up with me for a tune-up or service. Clogged air filters like this one degrade power and fuel mileage and in extreme cases can lead to serious internal engine damage. The rest of this week is booked but starting middle of next week I have just a couple open slots!

Another 3.6 oil cooler on the bench! This one is not the Dorman but from Mishimoto. On initial unboxing and observation both units appear to be about the same quality; however mishimoto sends you new sensors and Dorman does not. The Dorman cooler must also be bolted to the filter housing, here it is already bolted up. Casting quality of the metal appears equal: time will be the teller of that. All seals are pre-installed this truly is a bolt down and go job where the Dorman requires a bit of work on the bench first. Either is better than the factory plastic/polymer part. If you have a 3.6 pentastar in a charger/challenger/jeep get up with me and get this upgrade! You can’t go wrong either brand, I can typically get a Dorman same day and a mishimoto within a few days.
