Smart Tint, the leader in switchable window film technology. This project is located at 4300 Rockmoore Road in Jackson Wyoming. The master bathroom was a bit exposed to the world after recent renovations. With the addition of frosted Smart Tint we provided a privacy solution where Lutron shades could not be installed. This project was 49 Sq' and had not yet been finished off with carpentry to hide the wiring and sealant at time of video.

This 2008 RAM 3500 underwent a serious technology upgrade. Speakers throughout, a Carlink remote start system, back up camera, Sirius satellite radio, Alpine iLX-507 stereo, and an under the seat amplifier to power new speakers and a customer furnished subwoofer enclosure. In the process of upgrades we found more broken driver side rear door boot wires, typical for Dodge Ram trucks in this model range. Photos show amplifier installation, camera image on Alpine stereo, stereo wiring and door boot wiring repairs.

We are at 175 South Glenwood today applying window film to the east window wall of this Jackson Wyoming condo unit. Our store location is closed today and we will be re-open tomorrow morning July 26th. Total square footage covered 348.74sq' of glass. Upper windows 3M Prestige 40, lower half and bedrooms 3M Prestige 50. Only the upper left windows being completed in these photos represents a great example of the film. The blue sky pops with color in photo 1. Photo 2 shows the glare reduction against the white clouds.

This 2001 Ford Winstar got a front door speaker upgrade with a pair of Kicker 47KSC 6x8" speakers. A perfect fit for most Ford vehicles. Metra 72-5601 speaker wiring harnesses allow a quick connection without cutting the factory speaker connectors off. Don't forget to tie up the speaker wire in the door so they don't catch the window on the way down.

Dodge Ram pickup trucks are notorious for broken door boot wiring Problems. Today we are working on a 2004 RAM 2500 with the Infinity Audio system. The customer stereo has stopped working and is turning on and off intermittently. After pulling the head unit, we tested the wires going to the speakers and were unable to get tone through the factory amplifier. In order to understand if the factory amplifier is still working we had to find the speaker wires in the kick panels of the vehicle. Once we identified those wires we were able to send tone down the wire to see if tone was coming out of the door speakers. We were able to get tone out of the front speakers but not the rear doors. This indicates that there is a problem with either the rear door speakers or the rear door speaker wiring.
Upon further evaluation, we pulled the rear door speakers, bench tested them for resistance and resistance was good. We toned the rear door speakers on the bench and were able to get tone through the speakers so the speakers are still working. Knowing that Dodge Ram pickup trucks are notorious for broken door boot wiring problems, we immediately peeled back the rubber boot on the wiring loom that goes from the body of the vehicle into the door. Below is a photo of the passenger side rear door boot wiring with half the wires broken. In this photo you can see two wires are damaged and ready to break next which we will also repair. The second photo is the driver side rear door boot wiring where you can see that all the wires are completely severed in the vehicle.
We're going to repair these wires by soldering them back together with a heat shrink protective coating and then we'll test the audio system to see if everything is working again or is still not working before we move forward with replacing the stereo and bypassing the factory amplifier.
Unfortunately, the factory amplifier is still not working. We went ahead and replaced the stereo. We've added photos showing the new speaker wire connected at the passenger and driver kick panel locations and finally, you will find one last photo of the wiring harness at the stereo head unit location showing the new speaker wires attached to it. This particular vehicle has accessory power at the stereo location. Therefore we did not need an Axxess interface box to create accessory power for us. To accomplish the task, we used a non-amplified wiring harnees from Metra Electronics, part number 70-6502 which is generally around $12.99. If we were going to replace the radio and reuse the factory amplifier, had it still been working, the correct part number would have been an Axxess interface box CHTO-O2 or AXTO-CH2 at a cost of $159.99.
