Every fleet executive knows how this conversation ends. The load was fine when it left, but no one knows when it changed, and “somewhere in transit, I guess" isn't going to hold up with the customer, the insurer, or your bottom line.

Shipping containers move through ports, rail yards and distribution centers before reaching their destination, and now customers can see what’s happening to the cargo inside along the way.

Launching this week to coincide with the Intermodal Expo in Long Beach, Phillips Connect ContainerVision brings our CargoVision technology to the intermodal market. When a container’s doors open, the camera captures images every five seconds, creating a visual record of cargo moving in or out and identifying when a person is present.

ContainerVision also shows whether a container is full or empty, how much floor space is available and whether equipment or dunnage has been left inside. The solar-powered camera is protected behind a steel shield built for the conditions containers encounter in transit.

Customers can check the container from wherever they are instead of sending someone out to open the doors and look inside.

A lot can happen to a refrigerated load between pre-cool and delivery, and fleets shouldn’t have to wait until the doors open to find out if there was an issue.

Phillips Connect Cold Chain Intelligence gives operations teams visibility into temperature, individual zones and door status throughout the trip, with alerts when conditions move outside established thresholds. New re**er integrations in Connect1 add operating data directly from the refrigeration unit, helping fleets understand what’s happening inside the trailer and how the equipment maintaining those conditions is performing.
