From Rusted Out to Road-Ready!

Remember that heavily rusted upper coupler we pulled off a week ago? Here is the finished result!
We completely fabricated a heavy-duty replacement, welded it to factory specs, and finished it with a clean, protective coating to keep this Wilson Commander hopper trailer rolling safely for miles to come.

Not all Trailer "Deals" Online are Built the Same...
We recently had a customer bring in a newer enclosed trailer they'd purchased online after noticing some severe panel damage and fitting issues. Once we got it into the shop, we uncovered a few major manufacturing shortcuts:
-Floating Roof: The roof sheeting was sitting loose over the roof bows with zero adhesive, rivets or fasteners holding it down to the crossmembers.
-Plastic "Aluminum" Panels: What looked like standard sheet metal from afar was actually thin plastic composite paneling with micro-thin aluminum coating. Instead of flexing or denting under stress, the panels shattered like brittle plastic.
To make this trailer truly roadworthy and weather-tight, our team stripped it down to the structural frame and interior plywood. We are replacing all exterior panels with heavy-duty solid aluminum skin and installing a properly fastened leak-free roof assembly.

We pulled off this old upper coupler that was eaten up by years of rust, deep pitting, and scale. Riding around with thin, corroded metal on your fifth-wheel plate is a accident waiting to happen, so we’re building a brand-new replacement from the ground up!

Here is the build process for this Wilson Commander hopper trailer:
1️⃣ Stripped out the old, corroded bolster structure.
2️⃣ Prepped clean, heavy steel plate for the new cross-beam.
3️⃣ Tack-welded and fitted the main assembly for a perfect fit before final welding.
