Yesterday’s call volume: just enough to keep us from getting too comfortable in the recliners.

At 2:18 PM, crews were dispatched to a 2-car crash on South 6th Street at the 422 interchange. One driver pulled out into traffic at exactly the wrong time… which is a bold strategy, but not one we recommend.

The good news—everyone was okay. No injuries, just some unexpected body work appointments. Both vehicles were loaded up by Mohney’s Towing (because when your car can’t drive anymore, they make sure it still gets where it’s going… just with less dignity).

IFA crews handled traffic control, secured the vehicles, cleaned up the mess, and even pushed one car out of traffic—because nothing says “full service department” like impromptu CrossFit in turnout gear. Crews were on scene about 30 minutes assisting Pennsylvania State Police.

Round two came at 6:41 PM for a reported propane leak behind Dollar General off West Pike.

Assistant 2 and Assistant 3 arrived ready for action… and were immediately confronted with our toughest opponent of the day: absolutely nothing.

No smell.
No sound.
No leak.
No people.

We checked the only propane tank in the area and found it shut off tighter than your budget after a trip to Dollar General. Engines and Rescue were canceled, and after some investigating, we learned a passerby thought they smelled gas and called it in… then disappeared like a magician.

We appreciate the call—seriously, we’d much rather check nothing than miss something—but if you can hang around next time, it saves us from playing “Where’s Waldo: Propane Edition.”

All jokes aside, we’re glad everyone from the crash walked away okay—that’s what really matters.

Heading into the weekend:
🚗 Look twice before pulling out into traffic. (Seriously… twice.)
👃 If you smell gas, call it in—but maybe confirm it’s not your neighbor firing up the grill.
🚒 And if you don’t see us, that probably means everyone’s behaving… let’s keep it that way.

Stay safe, slow down, and help us keep the recliners from feeling abandoned.
